IU fans shouldn't be allowed to say a word. We followed the rules. They did not.

Could you be a little more bitter right now? Gordon hadn't done a single thing to bind him to going to Illinois. I can't wait to road trip out to Champaign for the IU-Illinois game.

Kentucky fans are the absolute worst fans I have ever met.

At least when it came to arrogance.

But - They were more knowledgable than any fans I know... more than the IU fans I knew and definitely more than the Illini fans know.

It'll be fun for me. Not sure about you. EG and Kelvin better be prepared to dodge some blunt objects. So, because he didn't sign an LOI yet means it's ok to talk to another school's commits? OK, maybe not an NCAA violation, but your coach and school did something unconscionable.

Verbal commitments are the most useless thing in sports and should be eliminated completely. Since a 17 or 18 year old kid likes U of I at some point a year before he will graduate high school means he shouldn't be allowed to change his mind? For the record Eric Gordan or his dad called Kelvin Sampson and said he wanted to re-open the recruiting process. What coach in the country wouldn't play ball with that kind of recruit?

                Deon Thomas

Since it was Illinois' third major violation in six years, the NCAA cited Illinois with a "lack of institutional control" charge and implemented several recruiting restrictions and a one year postseason ban.

Didn't this entire conversation start cause you said IU fans are obnoxious? Man if you actually think Illinois fans might throw stuff at Sampson and Gordon then you're not saying much about your fan base now are you?

God I can't even believe I just read that. Talk about being a hypocrite.

Exactly. Gordon and his father contacted Sampson not the other way around. Not to mention Gordon was only considering U of I in the first place because Davis was the head coach at IU.

Not to mention one Sean May once said he would go to IU when Bob Knight was still head coach but then went to UNC.

There is something to say about a guy that goes from a JC and then to Div 1 then back to JC then to Div 1. Stemler is not very good.

I am merely brining up the fact that IU fans chant unsportsmanlike things. Plus, Illinois is rightly upset. I am not trying to start a fight with you, but I really hate IU. and Hate is a strong word. Say what you want, but Illinois graduates its players. And it was no coincidence that the elder Gordon's coach at Liberty and EJ's AAU coach are now assistants at IU. I respect your opinion, but I really can't stand IU or Eric Gordon.

You act like that will phase IU. They somehow have dusted all the actual violations under the rug, and you expect them to honor UNWRITTEN rules? Now you're just being silly.

In all due respect....just how strongly does everyone believe this?
I think it is a little naive, since we now know Kelvin Sampson has absolutely no conscience about making any and all illegal phone calls, and even has fall-back plans to cover his butt when he's caught (such as his assistant getting fired).
I have no evidence to the contrary, but I would be astounded if KS did not make calls to Eric Gordon while he was verballed to Illinois.

Don't try to defend Sampson, he's a scumbag and an embarrassment to Indiana.

Not defending him just bringing up a valid point. His phone call violations are an embarrassment to the university.

However, seeing how one fan of U of I has already said how obnoxious IU fans are and how he "hates" IU, I doubt I'm going to get anywhere with this discussion anyway.

And I'm sure Illinois fans have never chanted a single thing that could be considered unsportsmanlike....
