  • UIC: The Middle Ground

It's obviously too early to proclaim that DRuff isn't all that, that Sammy M. is in over his head, that BU won't win 20, etc. I agree with those who say "it's just one game" and that it's not quite time to jump off a bridge yet.

On the other hand, we want an NCAA bid this season. I think last year's selection committee probably saw Bradley's resume this way last year:

Strike ONE: Bad loss to inferior non-con opponent on road (Tenn Tech).

Strike TWO: Chance to play a big boy and you get embarrassed (MSU).

Strike THREE: Late-season home loss to average team (UNI).

BU might have suvived one or two of those, but not all three. The problem with the UIC game is that only took us ONE game this season to give the 08 committee its first reason not to extend Bradley a bid. One game down, Strike ONE. So the margin for error just got pretty hairy if you're Jim Les.

Gotta agree to an extent.......................but I sure hope USC, UK, GT, MSU, Sienna, New Mex. St., and anyone else who was/is upset can turn their season around too

Yep, but you get more than three strikes if your team is named after a state!

Well the solution there is easy. We'll just start our own state named "Bradley".

          Well said, Brocks, well said.

There's no doubt we've put ourselves in a hole after only the first game of the season. I agree with a lot of folks, it's not time to panic, but it's certainly time to be concerned.
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

            No it isn't.

I think the real question that needs to be asked is why we are starting the season on the road at a Horizon League team? It's just not the right way to start a season IMO. Even if we had won, I would say the same thing.

              That's what I was thinking.

I can't wait to resurrect threads like this in the future.

                -----------------------------------------------------------------

But I laugh how some can try to capitalize on a negative and esculate it into worse.

Why can't we take from the negative and change/get better for the future?

                ----------------------------------------------------------------------

The glass isn't half empty or half full... it doesn't matter... it's tap water - which is bad (compared to Hinckley's - or whatever).
