  • Are we close to signing another point guard?

Sam M. worries me. Short, diliberate, flat shot, very slow on defense. He can fix the flat shot, but I don't see him getting taller and quicker. A back-up pg at best. Hope JL is recruiting...

Geez, be cool, man. He's a freshman. I don't expect him to be an all-conference player his first season. Let's not abandon the kid before his first season is even done. Throughout the season, I expect him to continue to work through some things. However, I still expect to see flashes of a future greater player.

I think SM will be used as a shooting guard once McCain gets here.

But your complaints are all still quite valid, even when he plays the 2 position.

I don't think there's a need to recruit another PG with one already coming in next year. Also, I think it's a little harsh to say Mani is a "backup pg at best" after just 17 minutes of D-1 basketball as a freshman.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I certainly do not agree with this. Sam M. will be a starter by his sophomore season.

His first game 17 minutes played and you're saying he can't play. Lets give the kid a chance, I see big things for him in the future.

                  You are absolutely crazy man!

First, he's probably not a true point guard. Second, defensive technique and hustle can make up for a lack of quickness. This can be taught and learned. Les wasn't exactly lightning.

You're right that the flat shot can be fixed, but keep in mind that there have been plenty of quality college guards that were 6' or under and not very quick - Les, Stockton, Mark Price, Mark Jackson, Paulus at Duke and plenty of others.

If you were a better judge of talent than the Bradley staff I'm sure they would probably call you for advice. Cut the kid some slack and remember how many freshman suck early in their careers. I am certain that this kid will make us all proud before and after he leaves The Hilltop - even if he never becomes a star!

Sam will be fine. Eddren McCain will be as well.

I will stand by what I said until proven wrong. I just don't see what the hype is around Sam M. He may be a good player down the road and give 10 or so quality minutes a game, but I don't see BU going to the next level with him playing significant minutes night in and night out. Just because I've only seen him play in two exhibition games and one regular-season game does not mean that I can't tell that he short, slow and deliberate. If he grows, gets quicker and more deceptive, well then I'm wrong. Anyone see that happening?

Sam will become one of the great point guards at BU ; he is a better shooter then most people think and he just needs more help on the defensive end ; I think he is doing pretty well for a freshman and has a bright future ahead of him.

I hope you are right and I am wrong. Based on what everyone except me thinks, he will be the next Tony Bennett (UW-Green Bay). Anyone see him play? WOW.

Way too early to make a statement about Sam M not taking BU to the next level...imho
