I'll take Hawkins and Manual. Were they not back to back MVC players of the year? They could do more together because they were older and more experienced than when Les played with Hawkins. Or, Hawkins and whoever was on the floor at the other guard spot...

I saw both Les and Manual play but I will give the nod to Les due to his relentless playing. He was another coach on the floor. Manuel was a bit quicker and could get to the hole but Les had a better jumper. I'm not sure what scoring was but I bet Manuel had a higher avg because he played for Stan the Man.

I also saw both play. Not to take anything away from Manuel, but Les was "hand-down" better in every way. And I think the pro career as a player and coach also validate this assumption. I'm not sure I would even say Manuel was quicker than Les. And Les was the much better floor General, IMO.

I loved Manuel and he was an all-time BU great, but I'd say Les was the much better leader and player.

(I'll never forget when I fist saw Manuel play with that high dribble - near his head- and almost constant palming of the ball on his dribble. Of course, he fixed both real quickly and became a great player)
