I predicted a 7-5 non-conference record, which I still stand by though hopefully they can win more. Still they will lose some games and some of those loses could be sloppy. But it is part of the development this team will need to go through to become a better team. I think next year is the year they can really make that big run in the postseason, but an NCAA tournament bid this year is certainly not out of the question either. Some time, and the next three games at home may cure some of these ills. Hopefully we can learn to win some road games fairly quickly as well, but that won't be easy.
I just hate to see posters who are not as familar with the recent history of this team make knee-jerk reactions based on one loss. Everyone should know that with this many new pieces, it takes time for a team to gel. But it will happen, and I think we will be fine!

This was THEIR home opener.
Only other home games are vs Non DI, vs Toledo, and vs Howard.
This is their BIGGEST (non-conference) game of the year.
Agreed! UIC did what they needed to do, and it could help them in their postseason hopes in the long run.
As for Bradley, we play an up and coming but still pretty mediocre Iowa St team at home on Wednesday night. That is followed by two more cupcakes at home. Even the Iowa game at Suth Padre Island is certainly winnable, heck even the whole tournament is winnable, though Vanderbilt or Utah St will be tough. Then we have a road game a Loyola which is winnable, followed by SEMO at home before the brutal part of our schedule. We could still be 6-2 heading into those four straight games against 2007 NCAA tourney participants where we would hope for one or two wins there.
I think we will be fine, especially in the short term. Plenty of winnable games, many at home or on neutral sites, that will help us straighten out our problems before our conference schedule starts.

From my viewpoint, the Bradley players let the horrendous offficiating affect them too much. It made them tentative. And they were cold at the start of the game, something they need to fix.
Josh Mayo is a very good player, though I don't think he'll have a game like that the rest of the year.
Matt Salley should get behind David Collins and Sam Singh if he's going to play that poorly- 5 fouls, no points!

That's what I meant on my earlier post by "knee-jerk" reactions. Time for us to tell some of our fellow posters to come in off the ledge! It's only one game.

I saw it. I guess I don't see what makes the difference. We lost. They won.
