Kentucky really isn't doing so bad, since their only loss is to the 32 RPI team

This is one of the largest upsets in recent memory in the NCAA in Men's basketball. And I do realize it is very early in the season, but something I think is very positive but I am certain that the CBS's etc of the world who pay for and are essentially the NCAA do not observe this white elephant as positive is what is becoming serious Parity within Division 1 Basketball.

The upsets are great stories but there is no they ie CBS would or does want this to happen deep into its tourney. BU's SIU's of the world just like Colorado Rockies, etc of the world are ratings and money killers.

I believe that eventually the money men will stop this parity with Division I going to a BCS type of format for its tourney. Only the BCS conferences eligible and everyone else relagated to a separate touney with less pub etc. It might not happen soon but it will happen, I predict Parity will kill NCAA Division 1 basketball as we know it today.

Look at football...the big boys (aka the BCS or whatever they call themselves now) simply want to be sure nobody but their select few ever, ever, ever get even one cent of the huge BOWL REVENUE.


They will create their own organization, buy the rights to the NCAA Tournament (don't think it couldn't happen, the NIT sold...), and the invitees will be......the BCS boys.........

This raises a very interesting topic. I agree, the money will change things. But, do we have a chance because of our history, level of interest and success to sneak into the "Big Boys" neighborhood if this type of change were to happen. Currently, I think it is safe to say that we are in the top 3rd of all the conferences.

Sometimes, we view ourselves as an outsider, but maybe we are not.

Any new format would need a few Gonzagas, Wyomings, SIU's, Bradley's, etc. They just might not want to share the $ with the new Div. I's like Garner-Webb, Savannah St's, Maryland Eastern Shore and IUPUI Ft. Wayne's of the World.

More then likely no the MVC is not considered Big Boy worth. The only way a Valley team would sneak in is if they do as they do with the BCS and have an at large type that earns its way in.

Keep in mind there are enough teams that make up the Pac 10 Big East, ACC, Big 12, Big 10 SEC to make a large 32-48 team tourney, that just would not have enough room for a "perceived" lesser team. The NCAA is a puppet of the TV, advertisers and the dollar.

There is a reason Indiana, Oklahoma, USC etc can commit violations of NCAA rules and either they are slapped on the wrist, ignored or decisions drug on and on and a school like BU reports a violation and the punishment is immediate and harsh.

Two sets of rules and these rules are only going to get more and more divided.
