Lamar Lee, the 5'11" point guard committed to Evansville, tried to transfer from Lafayette McCutcheon high school to Lafayette Jefferson high school for his senior year. The Indiana High School Athletic Association has ruled him ineligible for his senior season.
Though the Lafayette high schools have an open enrollment policy (any kid can choose which high school he wants to attend if the decision is based on academic reasons), the IHSAA has a rule barring transfers for athletic reasons. The IHSAA investigated and ruled that they could find no academic reasons to allow the transfer. So they penalize Lee and one other transfer by suspending them for 365 days, which, since Lamar Lee is a senior, eliminates his senior season. Tough luck for the kid and for Evansville.
