This article discusses how it would be much better for the Philadelphia Sixers to lose
a few more games and fall out of the playoff picture (this would benefit the Bulls), then use their
lottery pick to take perhaps Patrick O'Bryant.
It worked for them a couple years ago and they ended up with Andre Iguodala.
"MISSING THE POSTSEASON WOULD BENEFIT SIXERS"
"The Sixers hold a 1.5 game lead over the Chicago Bulls for the eighth and final spot ..... losing three straight and 10 of their last 12"
"What's worth fighting for? An embarrassing first-round sweep?"
"If the Sixers failed to reach the postseason, they would be in the lottery and have a shot -- albeit a small one -- at one of the top three picks in the NBA Draft. If the Sixers nail down the eighth seed, they could draft no lower than 15."
"Not reaching the playoffs would be better for the Sixers in the long run. When Boston edged Philadelphia for the eighth seed two years ago, the Sixers ended up with Andre Iguodala with the No. 9 pick."
"Bradley 7-footer Patrick O'Bryant ....projected in the 11th or 12th spot. ..... would be welcomed with open arms."
