  • Missouri Valley Conference media day

The MVC media day is tomorrow (Tuesday) in St. Louis.

Coaches and media will vote on a poll predicting the conference finish, and also they will select a Player of the Year, and the All-MVC team.

Anyone want to take a guess?

Here are my guesses (these are not my personal picks, but my prediction of what the coaches & media will pick)--
    MVC-
    SIU
    BU
    CU
    MSU
    UNI
    ISU
    WSU
    InSU
    DU
    UE

POY- Randall Falker (Daniel Ruffin a close second)

    1st team All MVC-
    Ruffin
    Falker
    Coleman
    Couisnard
    Crouch

No way, ISU is returning almost everyone, they will get voted higher than 6th.
And I will be surprised if two players from BU land on the 1st team
for the very reasons that this guy wrote when he turned in his ballot.

"As for the all-league team, Falker, Ruffin a close second. I’m almost
flabbergasted reading some preseason stories on the Valley which don’t put
Eldridge on the all-league team. .......P.J. Couisnard and Northern Iowa
forward Eric Coleman. I almost picked Crouch, but how can you have two
Bradley players on the first team and not pick the Braves No. 1
    ?"

This MVC Media voter will NOT put two BU players on his First Team ballot
    (last paragraph)

Don't know if anybody is interested, but an Omaha sports radio station is covering the media day festivities again this year. They don't stream, but they do have podcasts. Last year there were several interviews with coaches and players that the station played (i.e., its not just Creighton people).

link to the site where the podcasts should be available: www.bigsports590.com (the on-air personality doing the show is Matt Perrault)

The Missouri Valley Conference website also had audio clips of the Media Day interviews of all the coaches. And although I doubt it will be live coverage, I suspect they will again have the audio archived for this year's event.

I don't buy this argument at all. I mean, it's not as if BU is in the middle of the pack and he's putting 2 guys on it, they're still up in a projected 2nd. It's still a team game and team rankings and I don't think people would automatically say because they've got 2 all-MVC 1st teamers they should be #1 because of that. Sure, there's a strong correlation, but not an absolute. It takes more than two guys to carry a team.....
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

Here is a media release today from BU

            Bradley Basketball Notebook -- Oct. 29, 2007

The Bradley men's basketball team will begin and end its preseason schedule this week with a pair of exhibition games -- Thurday night versus St. Ambrose at Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse and Sunday afternoon against Quincy at Carver Arena.? The Braves are 46-11 all-time in exhibition action, including?a perfect 15-0 under sixth-year head coach Jim Les.? For more information, check out this week's Bradley Basketball Notebook.

Jim Les mentioned on his Monday night rdio show that he will be driving down to St. Louis with Daniel Ruffin and Jeremy Crouch this morning for the MVC Media Day event. I suspect Ken Kavanagh, and some others from the BU athletic department will also be there.
