Only 3 guys competed in the dunk contest. They had 30 seconds to make their dunks--
Tyrone Cole-Scott (barely 5'10") just missed on his 3 attempts.

Will Egolf was well above the rim on his 3 tries, but tried dunks that were too difficult, and did not complete any.

Both these guys were tired from just finishing the scrimmage, and their legs didn't have the spring they would have otherwise.

Theron Wilson is a fantastic leaper and completed 3 thunderous dunks. He was the obvious winner, but the crowd's applause was sought. The first 2 got a nice applause, but Theron got a much larger ovation and was declared the winner.

        Report from BUBraves.com--
PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior point guard Daniel Ruffin (Peoria, Ill./Central H.S.), a preseason candidate for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, scored a game-high 14 points during Bradley's 24-minute Red-White Scrimmage in front of 3,782 fans Friday night at Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse.? Sixth-year Bradley head coach Jim Les opened the men's portion of Friday's night's Red-White Scrimmage dressed as "SouljaBrave" and performed a brief dance with the Bradley cheerleaders.? After his introduction of the 16 players, the scrimmage took on a much more intense tone as the team battled through two, 10-minute halves and a trio of end-of-game situations.

The story did not note that to speed up the second half, the clock was kept running continuously. This equalled only about 4 or 5 minutes of real-time action.

        Women's scrimmage--
Bradley women's basketball fans got a glimpse of the future at the annual Red-White scrimmage with the play of the underclassmen highlighting the evening for eighth-year head coach Paula Buscher's squad. Freshman Raisa Taylor (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) scored 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, while sophomores Jenny Van Kirk (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) and Skye Johnson (Olympia Fields, Ill./Marian Catholic) had 16 and 11 points, respectively. The teams played two 10 minute halves with the Red team claiming a 46-41 victory during the women's portion of the event.

People............everyone needs to realize this a just a practice against player's who know your every move and what plays you are trying to run! Every year after the red/white a panic hits the board where no-one new showed anything.......PLEASE.....calm down....it is just an intense practice in front of the fans.........this team showed me a lot of hustle and deflected more passes than any team I can remember.......all is fine! The next team they play will not know all the plays and everything the player across from them is doing!DC is very mobile for a 7 footer........TW is an athelete and TCS is fast enough to start at point if needed......very quick.......SS moved faster and jumped higher than any time on the hilltop!Give these new player's time to get used to things and everyone on here will be very happy!

I have to agree with DaCoach and say there was generally a very poor "flow" to the whole thing. The numerous substitutions were the main problem. As expected...most of the scoring came from the seniors....Ruffin, Crouch, and Salley. I also think Maniscalco can give us some quality minutes without losing too much gameflow. You can tell he comes to play hard and shows the confidence you want in a ball handler. I was disappointed with Will, but it looked like he was nervous from the start. I'll give him a pass with having freshman jitters, but hope he doesn't look that uncomfortable again. I would say Ruffin, Crouch, and Salley are three starters that are locked in. I would love to pencil in Collins as a starter simply because "you can't teach big", but he needs to be worked in much more than was shown tonight. I did enjoy seeing Ruffin, Crouch, Maniscalco, Salley, and Collins on the floor at the same time.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Collins won't start. He was lost, and where was Austin? Salley looked great and it is a good thing he did. I think all the JUCOs will come around, but that usually happens late in the season. Nothing happened tonight to change my mind about the BIG adjustment that JUCOs always need to make. We have some tough games early and that worries me. Our guards are going to have to carry things for a while.

                  Red-White scrimmage opinion

In my opinion Ruffin looked absolutely fantastic tonight.Sam Man. and Cole Scott
seemed to bring a lot of energy to the floor.Sam actually guarded Ruffin fairly well, but
Ruffin just made some really tough shots against him.JC was slightly off tonight, but given
that he is the nation's leading 3-point shooter I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.BU's big guys didn't finish well on their offensive chances, but they did seem to
rebound well in my opinion.Salley was the one big guy who finished well around the basket.
I also thought that Sam Singh did a good job in the scrimmage. He did a good job rebounding
the ball and he got himself to the fould line a few times. He also actually made his foul shots
when he got to the line.David Collins at this point looks like he could be an inconsistent
player to me.Will Egolf looks real athlethic, but he also looks like he is learning the college
                  game as we speak.
I do wonder how much the players knowing each others tendencies played into the
game being sloppy. While there are negatives to take away from the scrimmage I feel that
there are positives to take away from the scrimmage as well.
I also sure as hell expect this team to be better than .500.

Yeah, so I didn't think it was bad. Saw a lot of athleticism and defense. Collins was a monster on defensive boards, got called for some fouls though... Egolf didn't have his shot, but on defense he altered a ton of shots and seems really able to jump. Ruffin and Salley stood out, I thought. Tyrone Cole-Scott is super fast, maybe faster than Ruffin, and has ridiculous moves. Maniscalco looked like he could play now, though not against a guy like DRuff.

As for the game, offensive flow was hard to come by. Tons of substitutions I think played a part, as well as the hard defense being played.

The only player I was disappointed in was Rashad Austin, he looked lost at times.

Wow... Where to start.. Well JL can certainly bust some moves..
As DRU stated this was the Danny Ruffin show. Other players that I liked were Coles Scott, Maniscalco (more on Sam later), Matt Salley and Sam Singh.

Maniscalco- will be a good one as people have stated here... BUT.. SM has a trendency to push off which I think MO Valley refs will have a field day on...

                      It's only a scrimmage but.....
This team really needs to work on their freethrows!!!!!!!!!!

I was disappointed in Will Egolf hope it was a case of the jitters and or Will pressing to do better....

I would like to see Andrew Warren step up and become a scorer...

I think David Collins will be a good one but am afraid he will be prone to foul trouble...

Anthony Thompson--man is he tall and SKINNY. He has the moves and I think in time he will be a good player as well....

Sam Singh---Sam it looks as if you worked very hard over the summer....

Finally...we will get a better idea of things with the exhibition game against St Ambrose.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I don't put much stock in games like this. They practice against each other every day. Wait until they play strangers to judge.

A couple of other things that I forgot to mention...

Sam Singh looked very good to me. Was able to run the floor, and really seems to get it, scheme-wise. (He should, as Jim Les said, he's been here for twelve years)

Also, I don't think of this as any sort of ".500 team." I thought our play looked a lot like last year, except that we have no shortage of post players. The returning guards were good (though JC only shot so-so), and TCS (we need a nickname for him, bad) looked like he could really be a slashing monster, Maniscalco looked like he could give minutes now. Theron Wilson was the only one I couldn't find on the floor. He looked super athletic, but I didn't see him make a lot of plays.

These guys will have two exhibitions and 4-5 early games to get it together. I'm going to hold judgement until I see them play against another team. I personally don't think Bradley will have too tough a game until Vanderbilt/Utah St.

                              Regarding the ladies...

It was too bad to see four of them having to sit out. I was interested in seeing Nekmouche and Rogers get a shot at the floor.

They have really added some speed and athleticism, and the freshman, Raisa Taylor looked pretty fantastic. She was very quick, pretty tall, and seemed like she just had "it" on the court. She needs to get a bit stronger, as she was getting pushed around a bit.

Anyway, it's a very different team from last year, though I still don't feel like I see good movement away from the ball on offense, which seems to make the offense disorganzied and pretty ineffective (then again they put up more points than the men hehe).

To start the "2nd half", the one team consisted of Ruff, Warren, Salley, Wilson, and Crouch. I have a feeling JL had them together (subject to change of course) as they are the starting 5.
