Anthony Parker and Maccabi Tel Aviv have advanced through the Euroleague regular season, and finished with the best record in the Round of 16. So now they move to the Final 8. Maccabi and AP will be going for their 3 straight Euroleague championship.
The Final 8 is an odd format, where the teams with the 4 best records are each matched in a best of 3 series with the next 4 teams. Maccabi Tel Aviv will play Olympiacos starting April 4. The winners of these 4 series with play in the Final 4 in Prague April 28 (semis) and April 30 (final game).
Anthony is having another great year. He is widely considered the top player in Europe. 2 years ago he won the MVP of the Euroleague Playoffs, and last year he was the MVP of the regular season in the Euroleague (his teammate, Sarunas Jasikevicius- now playing for the Indiana Pacers- edged him out for the MVP of the Playoffs). And he ranks high in the standings for the MVP this year. They have a complex formula that determines the MVP. AP is currently 2nd, but the player ahead of his plays for a team that was eliminated from the playoffs. Anthony ranks high in nearly all the categories
