  • Illinois' PR tour of Chicago area

The Illini have plans for a mini-tour of the Chicago area before the upcoming season. On Nov. 3, a Saturday, the Illini will hold a scrimmage at Glenbrook North High School around 11 a.m. That afternoon, the team will bus to Whitney Young High School for another scrimmage and a mingle-with-fans session.

The Illinois coach's brother, Dave Weber, is the coach at Glenbrook North. Why Whitney Young? It's no secret there is interest in Whitney Young's trio of guards -- sophomore Anthony Johnson and juniors Chris Colvin and Marcus Jordan.

I thought you couldn't do these scrimmages anymore. Growing up, I always went to Millikin to watch the orange take on the blue in the preseason. It was an easy way to get autographs of the players (I was young).

I think they played about six of these scrimmages until the NCAA wiped them out.

A wise man (my daddy) once told me that the secret to fishing is to fish where there is fish.
