I had a chance to talk some Bradley Basketball with some folks from the University this past week at an alumni event.....the consensus is that Matt Salley saw the JUCO big men coming in and has been using that as motivation to improve and get better. Hopefully, in addition to the physical improvements, Matt's decision-making has also gotten better. Getting 10 and 5 this year should be the lowest of expectations.
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.
Thanks DR for a nice article. Keep 'em coming. (one a day )
Btw, I hope JC gets over that hammy... imagine it can nag at you for a while and sometimes get worse to the point you need to 'shut down' for a week or two.

Conditioning at some of the jucos is getting better. In past years, juco kids always needed a lot more bulking up at the D1 level. But I hear Austin, Cole-Scott, and Collins are very well conditioned and muscular. And even though Theron Wilson is thin, he is well conditioned. Salley has gained 12-15 pounds of muscle and it should help him this year.
Alot of people were hoping/expecting the Juco bigs to come in ahead of Salley. While this is only based on practice (yes Allen I'm talking bout practice) I think we'll see Salleys year of D! will put him ahead of any of our Juco's.
Going back to last year a little, Salley's play toward the end of the season was drastically better than at the begining. Hopefully with the additional 12 to 15 pounds of mucsle that Da Coach mentioned, Salley will step things up a notch or two.
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
JC just cannot seem to shake the injury bug lately. Hopefully he can get fully healed before UIC. I think that needs to be the target right now. This one worries me quite a bit. Hammys can linger for a long, long time.
