  • Kirk Wessler calls BradleyFans.com "one of my favorite sites"

It sounds like he is starting to like internet message boards like this one--

He sounds like he's even ready to accept the way internet message boards work, including the posters' anonymity, and maybe begin posting here or on the PJ Star forum.

    Welcome Mr. Wessler!

In all honesty, I think I have been at times a bit harsh on some aspects of the local paper, but I am sorry if I gave the idea I don't like the Peoria Journal Star and its coverage. As I said elsewhere, I read it every day, especially the sports section and love it, and would love to see even more coverage of BU basketball.
    Here's a suggestion for a story....the new walk-on kid, Cameron Sweatman...
Nobody really knows much about him and how he got to BU. I'd love to read more.

Wow, times have changed, before any mention of this site at all on their board would mean instant deletion and is the reason why I'm banned from posting over there, now Wessler writes a article on this board.

It was for sure a good read........

For whatever my opinion is worth (2 cents maybe), KW's writing has been top-notch over the last several months.

I think Kirk Wessler and the PJ Star really have about 90% of the same objective as we at BradleyFans.
Good information, accurate facts and links, and an avenue for people to share opinions, and thoughts.
Of course they do a lot more news reporting and we do a lot more nitpicking on the fine points of games, recruiting, etc.
This whole topic started as a result of a few recent comments (negative) about message boards, and although I was not there, two different people who were have told me that those negative comments at the "Smoker" did occur, and so have numerous others that we've quoted here such as from Garry Parrish, Bruce Weber, the Sun Times, etc.
But I think there's no reason the papers and the boards can't co-exist as easily as Keith Olberman and Ruch Limbaugh.

                    That's 'Rush'

Rush Limbaugh, America's Anchorman and Doctor of Democracy, is known as the pioneer of AM radio. Limbaugh revolutionized the media and political landscape with his unprecedented combination o f serious discussion of political, cultural and social issues along with satirical and biting humor.

And by the way, I also heard from another person at the Smoker who said they laid into Message Boards pretty hard.

Bottom line is... nobody likes a critic to have a voice as easily accessible to any and all when the critic has no idea what it is like to walk in their shoes.

But hey - comes with the territory now. Time to weigh the positives and the negatives... sit down, get out a piece of paper/pen and start lining 'em up.... ok, for starters... on the positive, salary - on the negative, message board critics. Hmmm... do I need to go any further? I think I like my nice house, car, lifestyle... so what if a bunch of bozos fly off the handle on message boards - who cares?

I'll bet the profile of the average message board reader shows they are employed,
generate above average income, spend considerably on cars, entertainment, etc.,
are actively involved in community activites, school events, and sports events,
and receive the newspaper daily - reading each section. So what is there about the
message boarders the newspaper guys shouldn't like? Isn't this the exact person they want?

I must add that Keith Olberman really has no business being in the same sentence as Rush Limbaugh.

Oops now I just did it.

I wouldn't bet too much on that assessment.

I bet it varies very much by type of message board. However for college sports message boards I'd say thats pretty accurate. But if you look at some of the video game or other message boards It would be very different.
