I don't think this has been posted. I'm glad Coach Les got in touch with him and defended Ruff and JC. This is awesome, way to go coach!

Coach Les calls Garry Parrish

Way to go Jim... I always had a lot of respect for Coach Les... But now I have an over the top respect. It is great that a coach is willing to take the time to stand up for his players who he feels (and was) overlooked. This article should be shown to anyone who is being seriously recruited by BU!Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I am impressed. It sounds like Parrish's blog entry was taken directly from Jim Les' talking points.
It also sounds like Parrish had a lot of emails and calls from fans and team personnel trying to lobby for their guys, but he only posted one of them, Jim Les'.

But here is one line I hope people remember when they say things like....
"nobody really cares what those writers say........or how the press criticizes someone..."
Parrish says, and confirms that Jim Les believes..................
" 1. Right or wrong, such lists matter to players and schools.
2. He wants his players to be recognized for their accomplishments."

Glad JL took time to stick up for Ruff and JC but JL never should have been involved or had to make a phone call to Parrish.
Parrish's work on both categories he ranked was amateurish at best. If he claims to be a college basketball writer, and by having access to print lists of the best returning players in different categories someone thinks he is, then there is absolutely no excuse to have left JC off his list, that to me was and is the most glaring ommission. Leaving Ruff off is poor but the leaving of JC off is a complete joke and his pieces regardless of content, from this point forward deserve no further attention.
He is a hack.

It is important for Jim to stick up for his players as for every article that gets published about them it is also puts Bradley"s name in the news and if you expect to build up a good reputation for your program you have to get your name out there as many times as you possibly can; Jim has done a great job with that and so have the players by 2 great seasons in a row and also by being good role models as every day it seems like some college makes the news because one of their athletes has been arrested for breaking the law.

Am I the only one that thinks this makes Bradley look like a bunch of babies?
I wonder what fans of other teams think of this. If it were Bruce Weber calling in to complain about Pruitt being left off I would laugh at him - not because Pruitt isn't deserving, but because it would make BW look like a 6 year old, IMO.
I thought we had accepted the fact that Bradley and many other "mid-majors" will never get the respect we deserve from the media.
I relish the fact that Ruffin/Crouch will be underrated even when they stomp schools from BCS conferences all non-conf season long and later in the NCAA tournament.

To each his own...and I even honor Parrish's right to choose who he wants and leave off who he wants..
But you'll never convince me that most of the writers of the national sites know who butters their bread.....and they know what BCS schools play most often on prime time and who generates the most viewers and $$$. They have already been bought and put in the pocket of the BCS schols, just like Digger, Nance, Packer, and Vitale. Honesty, integrity, fairness, objectivity....words they have long forgotten.
The very best players at the mid-major level have to be twice as good to get the same respect. It won't change soon, but BU can help by kicking butt against the BCS guys.
