  • Patrick O'Bryant helps Warriors beat Lakers

Patrick O'Bryant played well, hauled down 12 rebounds, and played great defense as the Golden State Warriors beat the LA Lakers in Hawaii 111-110.
Former SIU player Troy Hudson's last second shot won the game for the Warriors.

Here is an article that has some very nice words about POB. Don Nelson was quoted after the game in another article, that this was the best that Nelson has seen Patrick play.--
    Time for O'Bryant to shine

Shining Star, II: Center Patrick O'Bryant had the best game of his career with 12 rebounds and three blocks in 19 minutes. That he posted those stats against Lakers center Andrew Bynum and Chris Mihm makes it all the more impressive. O'Bryant used his long arms to alter shots and showed some fire in crashing the boards and yelling at himself when a ball slipped from his grasp.

POB also had 2 assists, a steal, and no turnovers. Way to go Patrick!

Good way for Pat to start the season. Hopefully he keeps up the solid production and becomes a regular in the Warriors' lineup.

The Warriors and the Lakers played again last night. Looks like O'bryant didn't haul down as many rebounds, but he did score 10 pts on 5 of 6 attempts!

Any chance any of this good news on OB hits the PJStar?

There is a guy who just so happens to come in to see me only after bad pub, but he claims he only reads the paper for his news. I am just gonna make the guy know about this site and tell him to not come back until he has been here.

I'm glad he's doing well. Hopefully this success will continue into the regular season. He still led the team in rebounds that game. With Biedrins not playing (and not a dominant center anyway), POB has a good shot at getting PT this season if he works hard like it looks/sounds like he's doing.

Biedrins, like most Euro players, is not much of a true post player. POB is the only true post/center they have now that Adonal Foyle is gone, but Don Nelson prefers to play without a true low post much of the time. Maybe the progress POB is making will change his offense a little.

I really hope he can keep it up...

And yes, I also think that if he's playing, updates in Journal Star would be appropriate.

The only thing the jpstar is going to do is copy information from the papers out in CA. They should do what there doing now (which is nothing).

I'm out here in Laker territory, so I was able to watch part of both these games. Pat definately looks a lot more comfortable and a lot more aggressive than he did last year. The Lakers announcers were talking about him quite a bit, and Bradley got a few mentions as well.
