  • Lathan Sommerville-thoughts from Rutgers

I was listening to a 247 Rutgers podcast posted a day or two ago. They were talking about who would stay or go and who the coach wants back. Sommerville was the first player mentioned.
The Podcaster said he thinks Sommerville will leave for a couple of reasons,
First, because of the offense he brings, someone will pay him more than Rutgers can.
The more interesting thought was that he is not worth the money. The comment was Sommerville is a huge defensive liability and probably gives up more than he scores.
The third point is, which may be more Big 10 than a Valley issue, he is not big enough as a center and not a good fit as a 4.

If he so chooses to enter the portal and Bradley persuades him to come to Bradley, there is no doubt he would be an immediate starter. Coach Wardle stresses defense and have no doubt that part of his game will improve during the season. Here is hoping.

If not for the NIL money Bradley might have a chance....but the $$ throws a big hole in that picture unless he has some homesickness....

Man, Go where somebody wants you and believes in you...not just somewhere who "has enough money" to give you and hopes you work out. Come home, join some area guys and put your city and College back on the map.

Easy for us to all say but players have the rest of their lives to work and make money. Go where you will be the happiest.

I think Cellus is a good example...he is a legend in this community - people will always love him and his family.

Lathan Sommerville enters portal - https://www.mycentraljersey.com/stor...l/82643865007/

The "Do Not Contact" tag usually means he has already decided where he will enroll.
I think Bradley could still be in the picture, but NIL money is hard to turn down.

With Ivisic leaving for the NBA Draft could Lathan be eyeing the Illini?

I am just hearing some things, and can't post just yet, but a certain red & white team in the Midwest is definitely in play.

I would imagine if Sommerville comes here, he'll start at the 4.

                              No, and don't guess ISU!

By the way, I am hearing rumors that both 6'9" Morez Johnson and 7'1" Tomislav Ivisic, the Illini's two big men, are both planning on returning for their sophomore years. So rule out Illinois.
