Really sad for Valpo as they were building an MVC championship team! I loved going to Valpo this year for the Bradley Game! If not for Duke Deen, Valpo could have won that game! I love watching games in there gym! I hope they can somehow maintain a competitive team next year! Although the MVC does lose good players to the Portal, it is possible to rebuild quickly with transfers! I wonder if any Valley team will take a chance on bringing a top division 2 team like Drake did in the future? Until we see who is able best to rebuild, I guess the Valley will be up 4 grabs next year!

Should we go ahead and add Bennett Stirtz, Cam Manyawu, Cael Combs, Tavion Banks & Isaia Howard?

I don"t think that many will leave Drake as Iowa has different needs in players. Probably comes down to who the new coach will be at Drake. I like Howard but he probably is not big enough for the Big ten. Banks is also a good Valley player.

I am pretty sure Bennett Stirtz will follow him, probably Manyawu, and maybe Tavion Banks or Isaiah Howard, just to get the Iowa rebuild started.
But 3 of their other stars, Mascari, Abreu, and Jackson have no more eligiblity left.

                            Re: the Transfer Portal
Verbalcommits lists 466 D1 players going into the transfer portal, and 716 D2 players into the D2 portal. And the Transfer Portal has not officially opened yet.
Tomorrow, Monday, March 24, is the official 1st day of the 2025 Transfer Portal, and it runs for 30 days, through Tuesday, April 22 - https://247sports.com/article/colleg...ens-247239195/

The names listed on the recruiting thread, and on Verbalcommits and other various websites are just names of players who have been posted somewhere on social media that they plan to put their names into the transfer portal once it opens. No doubt, there are more who aren't known yet, and more who will emerge once the portal opens. So expect a flood of new names starting tomorrow.
For comparison, from various sources, it been reported there were somewhere around 2,300-2,400 names in the D1 portal last season, and another 1,200+ in the D2 portal. With NIL exploding, there will probably be more this year.

Valpo’s Tyler Schmidt & Luca Scroggins transferring
I’m beginning to wonder if there’s something more going on
The predominant rumor is that Valpo has no NIL money and that even little used guys get 10-20K at other schools
