Maybe the PCC is getting a new scoreboard to be more hockey-friendly (and maybe less hoops-friendly).

Didn't the hockey coach or owner say the hockey team is the #1 team in Peoria just a couple years ago?

Whether or not the current one is out-dated, I think this is a good thing because it's just another new upgrade that the coaching staff can show recruits. I know a scoreboard isn't something that is going to make a recruit choose BU, but it certainly can't hurt.

I know I am probably dreaming here but I would love to see a board similar to what the U of I has at Assembly Hall.

It seems that the PCC has a habit of half a$$ing some of the things that they do. I hope that they spend the cash and do this right. Get the latest, greatest scoreboard that is available and be done with it!

The people who decided to buy the scoreboard are the same committee who decided on the sculpture out in front that is used for numerous purposes. :-)
And they are going to purchase the new scoreboard from the same company that sold them the first set of retractable arena chairs a couple years ago.

I can't imagine this to be true. I've never been to a Riverman game, so I can't specualte on attendence figures but one obvious difference between the two is that the Riverman don't have a tv deal with one of the Peoria stations, do they?

I don't think the Rivermen are the #1 team in Peoria, but it is true the owner said it.

Bruce Saurs, owner of the Peoria Rivermen, when talking up his team on October 6, 2005 (from the PJStar, and I would provide a link, but the link is outdated and dead):

"the Rivermen ...set a franchise record for season ticket revenue...This is a big-time thing for Peoria. Our local economy will benefit - our head coach, assistant coach, trainer and equipment manager all came in and bought houses around here."

"Bradley University basketball in the Missouri Valley is a mid-major at best, and it's not going to get any better than that. The Peoria Chiefs have a good operation, in a low class-A league. The Peoria Rough Riders? That's not even pro sports. It's a semi-pro mess that's insignificant in the community.

If I would have known of that quote I would never have bought my car from his dealership! Next time I may not.

What will come first? Cubs win the World Series, or BU returns to campus for Men's Basketball games. I hate that doggone ice under the floor.

Well looks like the biggest team in Peoria is a joke. What a moron, maybe he should take a look at actual numbers before making rediculous statements. Peoria is a basketball town and hockey/the Riverman will always be the runner up to BU Hoops no doubt aboit it.
