  • Braves' Bench 2024-25

Burch and Ja'Quan have given us a big lift most of the season. Meta and Almar at times.

Wonder if Dilly will see action again. He played well in a few games, but had been in a funk. I think the resurgence of Burch has given him extra pine time. Corey Thomas has been all but a bust and the other Thomas from last season IMO played better in limited action. I do think CT will be more productive next season should he stay...just hasn't been an easy transition for him.

There is usually 1 player (occasionally 2) in Wardle's doghouse for much of the season aside from Season 1, but I haven't seen it this season unless you consider Dillon or Thomas, but I think their bench-warming is justified by their inconsistent play.

Coach Wardle's All DogHouse Team at BU

    1st Team:
    Kyle Thomas (2023-24)
    Darius Hannah (2021-22)...hard to believe
    Antoine Pittman (2019-20)...made me upset
    Jayden Hodgson (2019-20)
Luuk Van Bree (2018-19)...came on strong end of season

    2nd Team:
    Pop Weathers (2022-23)
Sean East (2020-21)...hard to believe too
    Ari Boya (2019-20)
    JoJo McGlaston (2016-17)...easy call
    Scottie James (2015-16)

Connor Dillon has been limited by back issues. He has played well when he has gotten in games. He is shooting 46.2% from three, the best percentage on the team among players who have attempted more than 20 three pointers.
Corey Thomas' playing time has been limited by the front court depth Bradley has. Darius Hannah is the only "big" that is averaging more than 20 minutes per game. And as a first year player, I think he is still learning his role and where he is supposed to be on offense and defense, so he does make occasional mistakes. He's played in every game but one, and started 6 games. And recall that just a few games ago, Corey was the Player of the Game in a big win at Murray State. If Connor get healthy, I expect both to play key roles down the stretch and in the MVC Tournament.
