It should be a rule, and would clear up a lot of people's frustration I think, that you are ineligible for the tournament if you have a losing conference record unless you win the auto-bid.

Yup, can’t wait for the day that a team with a losing record happens to catch fire & catch some breaks and makes it to the Final Four.

if it is a Power-5 team that does it, they’ll say “look, we told you so, we should give even more bids to Power-5 schools with losing records”

but if a midmajor does it, they’ll say “ OMG, this is a farce & a travesty! It should have never been allowed to happen. We need new rules to prohibit any mid-major from ever doing such a thing again. Give more bids to sub-.500 Power-5 teams!

Currently, 14 of the 16 SEC teams have NET ranking better than the top MVC team (Drake at #60). - https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basket...l-net-rankings

14th place Oklahoma of the SEC has an NET of 53. They are 17-12, have lost 8 of their last 9 games.
They are likely to lose their last 2 scheduled games (vs. # 14 Missouri and at Texas) and get knocked out quickly in the SEC Tournament and end up 17-15. And they will still likely end up with a better NET than Drake because of how the formula rewards teams in major conferences.
I think the corruption will show itself eventually, and it is starting to happen IMO. I was watching CBS yesterday and they threw up the "last four in, 1st four out, next four out" list. Out of the 12 teams listed, only one, (SMU) was a mid-major. Basically they were saying only one mid-major team is on the bubble. That is CRAZY.

SMU is in the ACC now, so I don't know that they qualify as a mid-major.

Yeah never mind. So they showed a graphic with 0 mid or low major teams on the bubble. That is absolutely insane. It is basically saying only power conference teams can get an at large.

Here is the current bracketology from ESPN, last updated Friday, 2/28. It will probably be updated again soon - https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/st...ld-predictions
ESPN's Joe Lunardi still had Oklahoma in as one of the "Last Four In", despite being in 14th place in the SEC with a conference record of 4-12 (17-12 overall), and having lost 8 of their last 9 games!
Texas, also one of Lunardi's "Last Four In" is the 13th place team in the SEC with a conference record of 5-13. And Ohio State, another of his "Last Four In' has a record of 16-13, and 8-10 in the Big Ten. What a joke.
              Drake is a 12 seed.

              And from CBS Sports- https://www.cbssports.com/college-ba.../bracketology/
CBS's Jerry Palm has a slightly different bracket. He has Oklahoma safely in as an 11 seed.

Just so sad. What justification will the committee spew for Drake if they end up 27-4, 6-1 vs Q1/Q2 teams, 10-0 in non-conf, having one of best road records in the country, and champs of the 9th best conference? Well, I know they'll come up with something, and their 0-2 record the past 2 seasons in the Big Dance doesn't help their case, even tho it's a totally different team and coaching staff. smh

With that sad, ALL disappointment for Drake will vanish should they reach 4 losses due to our BRAVES this weekend!
