  • What's Changed?

Simple question. What's changed in the last 3 weeks?

Wardle indicated during the post game that there’s a lack of effort from the players, including seniors. “Maybe they are burned out right now” is what he mentioned. Also saying there had been 4 bad practices in a row.
All fun and games when you’re winning. Where’s the effort and game time intensity? Change the starting line up and see who comes to work.
Meta had 10 pts in 19 minutes of play, Johnson had 27 in 26 minutes of play, Burch had 13 in 15 minutes of play going 3-3 from 3pt… there’s 3 starters right there.
Hannah- Davis- Duke- Zek combined for 9pts
… I think maybe we see where the effort and lack there of is coming from.
Our bench out scored the starters in the 5-7 minutes they all played together not to mention out scoring UNI in those minutes as well. Hell, our bench made a good effort and brought us out of the 30 pt hole the starting 5 dug us.

It has been 1 week that we have lost 2 games in a row and our senior starters have pretty much not shown up for whatever reason. This whole thing makes no sense as far as players all of a sudden not playing hard and competing. Some attitudes need to change or we will continue to lose to ave. teams.

Back in 2006 Bradley lost at home to a team ( I dont remember which one ). Les was so upset with the team he declared that no one was guaranteed a starting spot including Sommerville. The only player guaranteed a starting spot was Tony Bennett because of his effort which he brought every game. Starters for the next game would be decided by the best effort in practices. That is when J.J. became a starter. And you know what happened that year

It's a slump, a funk, whatever you want to call it. We weren't going to go undefeated and our record is probably better right now than anyone expected at the beginning of the year. BW and the players will get out of this and get back on track, just give it time. Let's be glad this is happening now instead of during the post-season.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Other teams are getting better. We’ve flat lined.

The word is out how to play us. We have not adjusted to it . Our confidence and spirit are shaken right now. This has not been discussed but we really miss malevy a lot as well as Hickman. They were our best defenders and brought it every night. Hickman took a lot of pressure off of duke. Malevy just played clean and efficient basketball. He did so many things that did not show up in the boxscore. He was like a coach on the floor. He was a winner

Hope Wardle and staff can figure things out fast.

I’ll start off by saying I think our best level is equal or higher than anyone in our league. However we have had 2 stretches in conference this year that were a real struggle on both ends. Valpo thru UIC away were either OT or nail biters. Difference is we went 4-1. Then we went on a tear and smoked ISUb, Murray, Belmont. Now we are back in a stretch of underperformance 3 games long.
                    Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

I think that is true. We could easily be sitting at 6-6 or worse in the conference right now.

We looked great in the games vs Indiana St., @Murray State, and @ Belmont. Other than those I think we have gotten quite lucky on a few games.

I think we have the talent, but it doesn't always get applied.

I believe the change has happened because of the way wardle subs it has upset the players and they just don't know why its happening.
Watch any good team there is no where near as much subbing.

I'm hearing a report that might explain some things about the last 2 games. I cannot personally verify this, and I cannot explain why the team wouldn't put this out in the public. But the report is that Duke Deen has been battling illness for the past week and it has affected his play. He is recovering OK now, so maybe we'll see a better version of Duke tonight.

He was a little better, but not the great version of Duke. Only 1-3 in the 2nd half from long range, 2 assists and 3 turnovers.
We need him at 100% fast.
