  • VOICE OF THE BRAVES Radio Show tonight- 6pm @ Alexander's Steakhouse

Dave Snell & Coach Brian Wardle on WMBD, broadcast live from Alexander's Steakhouse
Tonight at 6pm. If you've never gone or if you just want a great meal at a great price- consider coming.
They have a special menu for the people who come for the show. There are burgers, low priced items,
kids menu and, of course, their TOP rated salad bar. (Voted BEST in Central Illinois)

a couple things from tonight's radio show event,

    - first, this was the last Voice of the Braves show that's planned for this season. Maybe more will be added, especially if Bradley
advances in March, but if you didn't make it tonight, you maybe won't have another chance this season.

    - Then Coach Wardle said both on-air and off that he hears from the kids he's recruiting that they almost unanimously loved Bradley's game that was on National TV Saturday vs. ISU, and were major-impressed by Bradley's near-sellout crowd. So he repeatedly thanked the fans for their support!

Let's hope that the potential recruits strongly consider Bradley as their choice to pursue their college careers. We need immediate impactful players for next season considering what we are losing. Can only hope they land the coaching staff can land the ones they have targeted. Get another win this Wednesday. Well said, though we do have a bright future with the Braves hopeful to return next season (Thomas, Meta, Burch, Atlason, Quan, Timo) and our outstanding prospects who will be freshmen next season. I expect a dip in success next season, but should still be good enough to contend for Top 4 in the Valley even if we don't get anyone else.
I think what we're lacking is a perimeter shooter and someone with offensive punch down low. Get those, and I think we should be set.

Who are we losing for sure next year out of the rotation? Zek and Hannah? Isn't there a possibility of Duke and CD both coming back? Zek and Hannah would be huge losses, but with the incoming talent, we might be able to weather that pretty well if both Duke and CD return, though I know that's unlikely.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I think we could be loaded at the guard position next year with Johnson, Burch, Wheeler, Zobrist and Richardson plus probably one more recruit. We have Thomas, Meta, Atlason and Van der Knaap at forward and center returning. I would like to get a 6-8 pf.or two and possibly a wing that is 6-7 . I do think it is important to bring in experienced players that have proven they are capable of playing at this level now which means at least 3 to 4 JUCOS or portal transfers.

The way the NCAA statement from December reads, yes, Duke would be covered and should be eligible for an extra year of eligibility in 2025-26.
However, the waiver only covers players who competed at a "non-NCAA school for one or more years".

Christian Davis is a different story. Before coming to Bradley, Davis was enrolled for 2 years at Le Moyne College (2020-22 and 2021-22), which was an NCAA Division II school at the time (they are now D1). Davis didn't play in 2020-21 because Le Moyne cancelled their basketball program that year due to Covid. He played as a freshman in 2021-22 and lead the team in scoring. He transferred to Bradley in the spring of 2022, and is now in his 3rd season playing for Bradley and 4th season of college basketball overall.
Because CD never played at a Non-NCAA school, he would not be covered by this NCAA waiver, unless it is further expanded by the NCAA.

So what non-NCAA school did Duke play for before Troy St? I guess I'm not following, as it seems CD would be more eligible for another year, having played at a D-2 school before coming to BU, but maybe there is no discrimination between D1/D2 as far as NCAA eligibility?

Duke played a year at Panola College (2020-21), a junior college in Texas, before transferring and playing at D1 Troy University 2021-22). He then came to Bradley in 2022, and has played 3 seasons here.
Even though Duke already got an extra year because of the NCAA's Covid ruling, because of the one year he played at a "non-NCAA school", he qualifies for another year.

Here are his numbers at Panola College as a freshman in 2020-21. Pretty impressive - https://www.panolaathletics.com/spor...deen_cody_tlm0

Also, I will be actually amazed if Burch doesn't leave. He knows who is coming in. He got injured, and then sick and basically lost his spot. Can't blame him, but sometimes life happens. Don't get me wrong, I definitely want him back, but I can't see it. Hopefully I am wrong!!
