It was a matchup zone and it gave us lots of trouble. I do think that we missed a half dozen shots they we normally make. This is one of those games that the most important part of it was just winning.

Still do not understand why that wasn't called a foul by isu bulldozing Davis to the floor after review....announcers thought it was clearly a foul?
Kinzinger’s pass got batted up in the air and the result was those players running Davis over to get the ball, but the shot clock was incorrectly reset.
The review resulted in the shot clock being put back to 9 seconds.
I do not think they can call a foul even if seen on a replay if a foul wasn’t called to begin with

Concerning today’s game, I think ISU used the same gameplay everyone will be looking to use against us, play extremely physical and hope the calls work out on their favor. About the only way to hold down our offense is to beat us up. The refs let them play today and their 3 point attempts resulted in enough makes to keep them in the game, but luckily our guys showed up and matched their physicality. I’d like to see us putting up more 3’s as well as we shoot them, but no complaints since we came away with the win. Great to see the place packed and excited. Agree with Big Mike that we just don’t seem to play our best ball when the big crowds show up. Maybe just a coincidence and they’ll prove us wrong next time (and let’s hope that is the next home game!).

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Despite the loss to Bradley, I was impressed by a couple ISU players, Johnny Kinziger and Chase Walker. They are both sophomores who will only get better. The question is whether in this era of transfer portal and NIL, will they stay at ISU?
Walker looked like this in high school, and as a result, he got very little interest from D1 schools. His only other offer was Stonybrook.

But over the last year, he has lost a large amount of weight, and now can be a force inside. His limitations appear to be that he is not real quick with his inside moves, isn't a great ball handler or passer yet, and doesn't seem to have much jumping ability. That is why Meta was effective in neutralizing him, more than other opposing teams have been. He was averaging 14.8 ppg, but only had 5 points (his lowest scoring output of the season) on 8 shots against Meta, Hannah, Corey, and Almar.
Kinziger had 16 points (he was averaging 14.5), and maybe Bradley was fortunate he didn't take more shots. IMO, ISU's work and emphasis on the defensive end may have worn them out and affected their shooting percentage.

Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

I know everyone likes seeing pretty offense but defense is the backbone behind how we win. Meta set the tone early and the rest of the guys followed his lead. What I really like about this team is that we don't have to relie on one guy being the main scorer. Now would it be better if we win by double digits? No doubt. But as long as we keep stacking up wins I don't care how we do it.
