  • Two recent NCAA rulings that could help Bradley a whole lot

NCAA has ruled on two different topics that I see as helping Bradley in 2025-26

    - LINK - past juco players in their final season of eligibility get an extra year of eligibility in 2025-26, meaning we NEED to get Duke to come back next year

    - LINK - scholarship limits next year go up from 13 to 15, so we can sign two extra players & get deeper. Obviously so can everyone else, but we’ve done pretty well recruiting juco & the portal ( Duke, CD, Zek, Malevy..)

Duke and Davis fit that category. The problem I have is more on what we did not do this year. We brought back Biliew, Linke and Hardtke just because from what I hear are great teammates. I understand the fact that they are great people but I do not get why we did not give these 3 rides to players that are more capable of helping the team on the playing floor.I also know we have gotten some good transfers in the last several seasons but other teams that are in our conference have brought more in each and every season. How can we not recruit better then these schools because we are suppose to have the best NIL money and we draw a lot more fans then 90% of these Valley teams.

I don’t think Davis fits the category. He was a D2 kid.

        Yeah,
unless there’s further change in the ruling, DII kids like CD appear not to gain benefit from the waiver ruling.
Goanar Bilyew could get the waiver. It would be great if he took advantage and picked a grad program at a school - maybe a DII - that he could stay on scholarship and get plenty of playing time.

As much as I (we) LOVE Duke at BU, he is a fifth-year senior, and I'm not a fan of college guys staying more than 5 eligible years.
I'd love for the Braves to make the tourney THIS seasons and have Duke go out in style with his best season on the Hilltop.

After this season, time to pass the flame to Jaquan and whoever else's turn for BU.

Do not know if the latest ruling is set in stone or has yet to be debated for a final decision. If in fact it becomes a new rule, would love to see Duke return but that is entirely up to him. Maybe after this year he may want to move on with his life and pursue whatever comes his way. He may think to himself to put his college days behind him. If he does can't, blame him. Entirely his decision.

The waiver has already been issued granting an extra year of eligibility to former junior college and non-NCAA athletes who would otherwise exhaust eligibility in 2024-25.
NCAA is still appealing the court case, but the waiver to kids like Duke Deen isn’t going to be reversed.
Players like Corey Thomas, who is not in his final year of eligibility, are not currently affected & gain no benefit (yet) from this ruling. But if things drag on, Corey may get the waiver next year.

The NCAA Division I Board of Directors approved a blanket waiver granting an extra year of eligibility to former junior college transfers in similar positions to Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia, while also announcing it is appealing the ruling in Pavia's case.

If Deen were to return, what would that mean to the two point guard recruits for next year? Richardson could also play the wing of course. It would give Bradley 4 point guards, counting Deen and Johnson. Expanding to 15 scholarships, if done by Bradley, would mean enough available scholarships but would those want to come in to Bradley to play behind Deen and possibly Johnson.

This assumes Deen and Johnson would not be lured away to another school.

Astute end to your post, LTF. With the transfer portal and NIL nonsense, you can you never have enough solid guards (or any position for that matter)!

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

given the current rulings, then we would lose Hannah, Davis, Zek, Dillon and Linke - who would all exhaust eligibility.

Burch, Atlason, Thomas, van der Knaap, Jonovic, Deen, Jaquan & Bilyew all would have the ability to return, as would
Hardtke, Hennessey & Rugaard, who also still have eligibility remaining. But I definitely don't see all returning.
Wheeler, Richardson & Zobrist are signed, so we will have 4 or 5 or more scholarships yet to use in the spring, if we go to
                    15 scholarships, and I don't see why we wouldn't.

But given history- it's pretty likely that someone who still has eligibility won't be back.
In the last 30 seasons, there hasn't been a SINGLE ONE where someone didn't leave who still had eligibility remaining.
So we will have to wait to see. In the past years, the guys who left had usually been the ones who weren't getting the playing time to their satisfaction.
But that all changed about 5 years ago. Each of the last four seasons, we have lost at least one starter & arguably our best player.
I don't want to publicly speculate, but there's a couple of current guys who returned from last year who are getting fewer starts or less playing time this year than they did last year.

                      .
I count 7 players on this list as ones that deserve scholarships, add the 3 incoming recruits and that gives you 5 rides to give period. From that list it is obvious we need a wing, pf. and center , hoping we go the transfer way because your inside players in my opinion need experience.
