  • Once again, MVC > A-10 !

In the only Valley game today, in the 7-8th place game of the Diamond Head Classic,
Murray State knocks off Loyola 71-68.
Loyola ended up shooting 62.5% overall, but had a lot of turnovers & poorly timed fouls down the stretch.
Loyola led almost the whole way - shooting over 70% in the 1st half. Then they led the 2nd half by as much as 11, until the final 5 minutes. Missed FT’s & shots - plus turnovers cost them at the end.

Loyola had started the season 8-0 but now have lost 4 of their last 5 games, beating only 0-13 Canisius.

Christmas came right on time! A Loyola loss is always a good day!

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Yes, that one was left out. Drake managed to get the NCAA to re-classify that game from a neutral site to a Kansas State home game, despite the game being played in Kansas City, Missouri, more than 2 hours away from the Kansas State campus in Manhattan, Kansas. - https://x.com/DrakeADHardin/status/1869920862905778295

Kansas State is currently at NET 122, so that makes it a Quadrant 2 win for Drake, as of now.

Loyola loses at home even though all their injured players are back & starting (first home loss in a year) - to VCU, 84-65
VCU trailed at half but outscored Loyola 47-25 in the 2nd half. Loyola has now lost 5 of their last 6 with the only win vs. 0-13 Canisius

Loyola lost again yesterday to Dayton 83-81 in overtime. It's a good thing the game was at Dayton, because if Sister Jean had been there, she might have died of a cardiac event from how Loyola blew the game.

Here is a video of the end of overtime. Loyola tied it with 3.7 seconds left, but then forgot to play defense. Dayton inbounded the ball, threw a long pass to an unguarded, wide open player under the basket at the other end for the winning layup. -

Loyola is now 11-7, and 2-3 in the A-10. The Ramblers have never recovered from the butt-whipping they got from Bradley in last year's NIT.
