"COULD" is the key word here....
This is a ruling on an injunction & lawsuit by Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia who played TWO seasons at junior college,
then 3 seasons at DI (including the Covid year that he played in 2020 at juco)
The 2 years of junior college ball used up, of course, 2 years of his his eligibility, but he sued claiming his chances to earn money via NIL were minimal
at the junior college level, so he should be able to stay in college at the DI level for 4 full years (meaning at least 1 additional season next year in 2025)
Today, the court ruled in his favor and issued an injunction immediately making him eligible in 2025.
Altho this ruling specifically says it is in this case of Pavia only, and is not a broad ruling... if it is upheld, it opens the door
for every kid, in every sport who used up eligibility playing at the junior college level - to potentially get those years back
and be able to use them again to gain MORE eligibility and play more years at the DI level.

"The core of Pavia's argument was his two seasons at JUCO shouldn't count toward his Division I eligibility
since he was unable to profit from his NIL. Thus the court agreed and ruled him eligible next year, pending further
review of the case...
and here's a Sports Law expert explaining in much greater detail about this ruling- https://x.com/samcehrlich/status/1869509969823051968
How big is this?? Malevy probably can't come back and play two more years because he's already signed a pro contract, but
it means players like DUKE DEEN (1 year at juco), COREY THOMAS (2 years at juco), and possibly even CHRISTIAN DAVIS (SPENT 2 years at Non-DI) - ALL COULD HAVE ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY if the court so rules for all other athletes as they did today for Pavia.
