Nice to see Davis get a career high today...well deserved!
Need to tighten up on the FT shooting. Turnovers were good, get some rest for the next game , hopefully Duke smiling means the knee is not a serious injury!
Terrific game by Christian Davis- Career-high 21 points, 6-10 overall, 4-5 from three
Zek (13 points), Duke (12 points, 8 assists), and Darius (16 points, 7 rebounds) all had nice games. Meta had a few nice moments, and lead the team with 8 rebounds
Bradley 52% overall and 44% on threes.
The bad- Texas State had 40 of their 68 points from inside the paint- way too many layups.
They also had 20 points from the line (20-27)
I thought Thomas came in and gave us some help, need to find a way to get him more minutes. Refs called a good first half and then decided to wear their whistles out the second half. Some of the fouls on BU in the second half were just not fouls. We definitely need to get better as far as making free throws.

FT shooting so far this season has been GREAT! As long as it doesn't make a difference in an easier win like tonight, it's ok.
Very pleased with FT shooting and 3-point % so far this season, which are HUGE to getting back to MVC champs!
How good has D-H Bomb (Darius Hannah) been this season, and the steady incline he's made since Year 1?
So far this season: 74% FG; 58% 3-pt shooting! Already has 7 three-pointers, with only 1 make all of last season!
His FT shooting by season:
28%
32%
54%
61%
70%
Quietly making a case for MVC POY if he continues to perform steadily like this, but I expect Duke to heat up with the start of Valley games.
Our 3-point shooters are plentiful this season, as we've got 5 reliable perimeter shooters in Duke, Davis, Atlason, Zek, and C-Dilly, with an unexpected long-range weapon in Hannah!
Current 3-pt % (after Texas St. game):
Hannah 58% (7 made)
Dillon 56% (5 made)
Davis 53% (9 made)
Almar 49% (9 made)
Zek 44% (7 made)
Duke 34% (11 made; We KNOW he can and WILL light it up!)
Let's not forget Burch is a decent perimeter shooter, as he connected on around 40% his Freshman season and is 1 for 1 before he got injured.
We really need learn how to close the lane off and win both halves. The amount of slashing layups we give is becoming a problem, especially considering they have seemed to come from teams that don’t shoot that well from the perimeter, so stack that lane and make them beat you from outside!
Meta has really improved and is learning how to throw it down when he gets it. His dunks were pretty impressive!
Looks like the media let us down again by making us believe something that wasn’t true. Sometimes I wonder if these so called pundits actually watch games as Princeton, who I was led to believe was a shoe-in to win this tournament got it handed to them, and honestly, they just didn’t look to have much talent. Wright State looks for real, and their big guy, #14, does everything well. Should be interesting to see how we defend him as he should present a good test for our guys. Whole team seems to really shoot well, so we better come ready to play.
Lastly, this arena has 12” pizzas for $8! Prices are so much better than the Enterprise Center that you don’t feel like you have to donate a kidney to eat! And the arena itself is more intimate than even Valpo. Felt like we were sitting on the bench with the team and they could definitely hear every word I said when I cheered for them. I can hardly talk today (not good).
Based on yesterdays performances, this would appear to be our toughest test. Let’s get it done and win this thing!
Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Thanks for the report, Tommy.
Wright State's big guy is Brandon Noel. And Hopefully, our coaches have an effective game plan to contain him today. He had 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals, and 2 assists against Princeton. He is averaging 22.5 ppg, 9.7 rpg, and is shooting 56.3% for the season.
Brandon Noel career stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...4/brandon-noel
Noel was a kid who only had one Division I offer, from Scott Nagy at Wright State
Here were his offers out of high school, and they were all D2 schools other than WSU - https://verbalcommits.com/players/brandon-noel
Wright State's guards are pretty good shooters, too. Two of their starting guards are shooting around 50% from three this season - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...tats/_/id/2750

I didn't watch the Wright State-Princeton game, but might be a good matchup for Meta with Hannah doubling at times.
WSU looks similar to Bradley. They have a good big and good wings. This will be a test of our skill and length versus their power. Princeton has talent - their PG is on the mid-major watch list - but they played soft last night. If we’re soft we’ll lose by 10. As it is, we’re favored by 6.5.
