I thought Meta was serviceable last night, but when we play better teams it will be hard to get him many minutes. He is still too slow, and can't defend athletic players. I would be interested to see them just go to a zone when he is in the game. He's looking better on the offensive end, but not good.

I am surprised to hear that Bradley's DBO is the color guy. If I were BW I don't know that I would want him doing that, and if I were ESPN I probably wouldn't want him doing it since he is always going to be a cheerleader and not be too critical.

Almar is better at blocking out and rebounding than anyone on the team, but doesn't protect the ball well enough as pointed out by others.

Meta played a lot of minutes and looked serviceable. Not at the level Ari was playing as a senior, but the hope would be to get him there. He is getting better at contesting shots.

UTSA is just a terrible shooting team, but seemed pretty athletic. We should have won that game by 30 points.
UTSA stopped running offense in the 2nd half. Everything became 1 on 1. I thought it was an interesting test for our perimeter defense because UTSA would try to clear out a side and go. They made a bunch of tough shots but we made them take tough shots so kudos to the fellas.

We were a lot more locked in on defense in this game then we were at Washington St. When you can play defense without fouling makes for winning basketball. Our turnover problem though needs to be addressed. When we’re shooting 52% overall, 42% from 3, and have a 20 rebound advantage it won’t hurt us. But having that many turnovers doesn’t leave a lot of room for error against teams that are at our level or better. If it sounds like I’m down on the team I’m not. Far from it. We have a chance to have a special season. Just take care of the ball and and who knows how good we could truely be.

Does anyone know why Thomas didn’t play? I don’t get how he goes from starting the first game to not playing at all.

Also, what was going on with the crowd? It was pretty quiet yesterday. I don’t get why Lee Hall doesn’t announce when guys are checking out so they can get a round of applause. Who is the new guy that emcees? He is horrible!!! What happened to the guy from last year. I thought he was great.

Take away all the points they made off turnovers (I think 20?) and we easily would have had a 30 point victory. Give up the ball that many time to most teams and we lose by 30. (Ex. Washington).

I’m not impressed with how sloppy we are as a team. Very lax.

So true! The sloppy turnovers were really frustrating.

On a side note, I do like how we have so many players hitting 3's right now. Seems like come tournament time, the team with the most upper classmen and the best 3 point shooting are the teams that win and that appears to be the way this roster is built. Let's hope the 3's keep falling, at least.

The team played better last night then the last 2 games. Obviously you need to improve each game which i believe they did last night. TSA was very athletic and long which gave our team to see how they matchup against a fast paced team. The no. 1 thing we need to do most is quit making unforced turnovers. TSA scored 8 unanswered points because of bad turnovers. We cannot continue to not take care of the ball if we expect to bear good teams.
I also wonder why Thomas did not play last night because he seems to add a lot while he is on the floor.

Good point about Thomas. Had to be a matchup thing. Hopefully he's not dinged up. Speaking of dinged up, we should see Burch against Texas St.

Thought I saw Coach mention that BW wanted to see how the team performed with a smaller lineup?

Yep Coach did say that. Of course over the long season we'll see plenty of Thomas. It's nice having depth and flexibility to toggle between big and small lineups.
