Tough break for Robbie Avila. St. Louis' next game on Sunday, Nov. 10 is against Avila University, an NAIA school from Kansas City, MO. They were calling it "The Robbie Avila Game". But he will not be able to play in it. Josh Schertz told media after the game the injury was not good and that Avila would likely be "out for a period of time". - https://x.com/Ackerman1120/status/1853563965739315303
Avila was having a nice game and left in the 2nd half with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists.

SLU is not deep-no points off the bench. Without Robbie they will have a tough time. This team might lose by 15 to last years Indiana State team. I’m surprised after the high coming off of last years team that Schertz didn’t recruit better.

It was going to be a lot different without Kent this year. He was the real stud out of that group!

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I was at the Field of 68 games and saw Avila go down, although the angle was not the best. He went down under one of the baskets and I was sitting near center court. I was not impressed with SLU. Last year, Schertz's InSU team had five players that complimented each other quite well. Three of them transferred to other schools leaving Avila and Swope to transfer to SLU. The Billikens won't be as good as InSU was last year, especially with Avila out for an extended period of time.

I haven't seen BU play, obviously, so cannot comment on them as a team, but I'm going out on limb by saying Santa Clara will be a formidable opponent. The game in Henderson, NV, will be one with two evenly matched teams.

SIU likes to run, but they have a couple major areas that need work. First, they get few offensive rebounds resulting in few second chances. On more than one occasion, one guy drove to the basket while the other four were standing near the top of the key. Second, the team has yet to gel into one cohesive unit (I understand they've played only one game so far). Once they do, they will be a worthy opponent for any other team and could make some noise in the MVC. Elijah Elliott is the best player on the team. Kennard Davis and Ali Dibba also played well and could contribute significantly.

My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

Yeah, he can’t bully ball in the Big 12. You need some skills.

Yeah, owning the boards in the Valley is a little different than owning them against a Big 10 team, as much as I hate to admit it.
