  • 2025 BU commit- Dietrich Richardson

    Posted on 6/20/2023-

2025 Dietrich Richardson- 6'6" guard from Manual HS in Peoria.
There are some web sources that say he is the son of former Peoria HS star D.J. Richardson, who played for Bruce Weber at Illinois (2009-13). But he is D.J.'s nephew. DJ had a six year pro career overseas, and is now an assistant coach at East Peoria.

Bradley recruit Dietrich Richardson from Manual HS has official visits set for Xavier, St Louis, Wyoming and Virginia Tech - https://x.com/hoijim/status/1813375878979572202

I don't think this rules out Bradley. He may not have used an official visit with Bradley because he's visited multiple times on unofficial visits.

Interesting interview with 2025 recruit Dietrich Richardson - https://x.com/_proinsight/status/1837576569994596365

He talks briefly about his recruitment starting just after the 3:20 mark. He mentions Virginia Tech and Bradley have been on him the most, but he has "some upcoming visits coming up". Plus he mentions that Villanova just gave him a call about 2 days ago. He says he'll "take some official visits, then decide in October".

Thanks Coach for clarifying the Information regarding D.Richardson's college choices. Kind of Worried if he's still considering more then 3 schools, but still hoping BU will win out! I can't wait to hear his choice and hopefully his reasons for his selection. BU can only hope that their program fits his goals. It is hard to compete against the SEC ( vanderbilt) but it's understandable if that's his choice. We have to hope he wants to be a star in his hometown! At least we have a chance because Brian Wardle has built a very good team with a winning culture! He would have never considered Bradley I believe during those down years before our upswing! Here's hoping come Saturday!

I'm with you, Steve! We've got the reasons for him to come play. And playing at a mid-major gives him a chance to stand out more, as well as get more playing time as an underclassman. I hope it doesn't come down to NIL money, but that seems to be how most choices are made anymore, doesn't it?

Agree. If he chooses Bradley, he would be joining a program that is riding a wave of success, as opposed to Wyoming and Vanderbilt who are coming off losing seasons and new coach hires who are going to be rebuilding. And yet, he would find a lot of immediate playing time here with all the turnover. And yes, he would become a star and a fan-favorite in his hometown.
Bradley coaches have to be feeling good about their chances.

it has been reported Dietrich Richardson will announce his choice Saturday.
His offers include DePaul, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Illinois, St Louis, Arizona St, Wyoming, Vanderbilt, Bradley and a few others.
His most recent visits were (reportedly) to Wyoming, Vanderbilt, Va Tech, SLU & Bradley but he hints between the lines that
Virginia Tech, Wyoming & Bradley are maybe on his mind the most.
Recently, we all had hoped for a commitment from Leshawn Stowers, but he instead chose Miami of Ohio.

I just read D.Richardson will make his choice this Saturday, October, 26th. His X page says he's down to 3 achools: Bradley, Vanderbilt, Wyoming. My stomach in knots waiting until Saturday! I believe the entire peoria area is anxiously awaiting! Maybe getting Montana Wheeler will help persuade him? Let's all hope we finally get a peoria 4 star native right from Highschool! It's been 2 decade's since Bradley has achieved this! The Bradley program still goes on either way, but what a catch this would be!

Well Vandy has had 1 good season in about the last 5 and they are SEC, so if he's wanting a big school, we don't stand a chance against them. Not sure what the allure is for Wyoming unless he likes the area as they haven't been a very good team in a less than good conference. BU offers him a sustainably good team in what has been a competitive mid-major conference for quite a while. Let's hope that the allure of the power conference doesn't grab him and he decides to come to a winning program where he can excel at a mid-major level instead of being just another player in the PC's.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Dietrich has been fairly quiet about his offers and what schools are among his final choices. The only mention of the three schools (Bradley, Vanderbilt and Wyoming) was not by Dietrich, but was tweeted by a guy named Max Feldman, who runs a subscription high school basketball website called madehoops.com. Dietrich reposted the Tweet, but it does not say that those 3 schools are his "final" three, only that they are "among the final group".
Here is his post - https://x.com/DietrichR_11/with_replies

                  Top 100 @MidProAcademy / @PeoriaManual 2025 G Dietrich Richardson will make his commitment on Saturday, October 26th.
Bradley, Vanderbilt and Wyoming among the final group.

So it is possible he is still considering more than those three schools?
