    Selvy was a 6'3" guard who played 3 seasons at Furman University from 1951-1954. He twice led the NCAA in scoring, and was a 3-time All American. He averaged 41.7 points as a senior and 32.5 points over his 3-year career. February 13, 1954, his senior year, Selvy scored 100 points (41 field goals, 18 free throws) in a 145-95 victory over Newberry College.
    He was the #1 overall pick in the 1954 NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets, and played 9 seasons in the NBA for 5 different teams. After his professional career ended, he returned to Furman as their head coach for 4 seasons.
