  • BRADLEY - 1986 Hit Song

Our very own Tommy posted a video on YouTube that encapsulates the incredible run and season of the Braves of 1986. (btw - BEST YouTube channel out there so subscribe and watch so many classic BU games!)

I was a 5th grader in Spring of ‘86 and no real fan of any team. I knew BU was good - up there with U of I. DePaul basketball I would discover (and love) the next season thru early 90s. I went to a handful of War on 74 games with my father in the mid-late 80s and remember standing for most of the games, especially at Horton. it was electric. I only wish I had been a Braves fan back then instead of getting on board in 1993-94 (also a good time tho)
Several of my friends in elementary school would sing the BU 86 theme song - Look out NCAA - often.
Hearing this song now 38 yrs later and I love it!

TY Tommy for posting and I think our 2024-25 version will be pretty dang exciting/special to folllow too! And to that, I say to fellow Braves fans…
    BRADLEYYY - Look out N-C-Double A-A!!

Btw did the song have a title? What was Yajusneverknow? Was that from Dave Snell? I didn’t realize he has used “KaBoom” for so long!

please post a link, I'm not sure I know what video you are referring to.

      Is it one of these

A look back at the season of the 1985-86 Bradley Braves. Hosted by Dave Snell and titled Yajusneverno.

A look back at the 1986-87 Bradley Braves season. Titled Tale of the Proud and hosted by Dave Snell.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

For those who don't know or don't remember, Yajusneverno was a frequent saying by radio color announcer Joe Stowell. It was a contraction for "well, you just never know", which Joe said frequently on the air. But it came out as "yajusneverno". Dave Snell popularized the term when he did his Joe Stowell impersonations on the radio and when emcee'ing events. It became so popular that local musician and songwriter Tom Dermody wrote the lyrics and music for the song, and some heroic play by play events were inserted.
It was issued as a 45 RPN record locally in the Peoria area.
