This is undoubtedly a painful topic, but worthy of remembering, because in some sense this was the BEGINNING of seeing the light at the end of a very miserable tunnel, and we need to be sure we never make these mistakes again - (btw- how's Bradley's enrollment doing Dr. Standifird?)
- Spring 2014, after three consecutive seasons of the most horrific basketball Bradley had ever seen, and the most incompetent mismanagement of the entire Bradley Athletic Department, Kirk Wessler wrote a column placing ALL the blame on the players and none on the coaches, staff or administration-
Keep in mind that the only decent, DI caliber players Geno Ford ever had (Dyricus, Lemon, Egolf, Taylor Brown) were actually recruited by his predecessor.
- the one actual DI prospect Geno had gotten a commitment from for 2014, saw the miserable quality of coaching during the 2013-14 season and decommitted - https://www.pjstar.com/story/sports/...7/41676200007/
- Then, despite Wessler's phony praise of the coaching staff and administration, the really bad news started to leak out- Board members started quitting and yanking their financial gifts, massive financial shortfalls were exposed that Dr. Glasser had tried to hide from the Board, then enrollment tanked
Then the 2014-15 season got underway and Bradley started stinking up the court, losing to the lowest of opponents, UT-Arlington, Robert Morris,
UA-Little Rock and scoring in the 40's and low 50's every game.
Fans finally got in the ears of the remaining Board members and by Jan. 2015, the pink slips were issued & we were on the way to that end of the tunnel!
