Jacopo van der Knaap is 2 years older than Timo, and has been playing as an amateur in Spain and the Netherlands for the last 2 years.

The first day of classes for Bradley's fall semester of 2024 is next Wednesday, August, 21. Timoty van der Knaap was the only scholarship player who did not participate with the team this summer, because he was playing with his Italian National team. But he is enrolled and will be at Bradley for the fall semester.

Some BU fans think Timo should redshirt. I disagree. I think he can provide size and skill on a rotational scale. Even if it's limited.

I doubt any player wants to red shirt anymore with the way things are in college sports now.

And Coach Wardle has rarely used the redshirt option. I believe the only Wardle scholarship recruit to take a non-injury redshirt his freshman season was Jerome Merritt (2016-17), and that was because he had 10 new players the season before that, and the depth of guards gave him the luxury of redshirting a player like Merritt, who was such a raw talent that he needed the redshirt year. Merritt left Bradley and attended a junior college in Florida. He never did play at a Division I level.

There were a couple non-scholarship recruits who redshirted their freshman seasons, Lou Griffith (2016-17) and Sulaiman Agiste (2022-23), but they also left Bradley after their freshman year and never did return to Division I.
Antoine Pittman redshirted his junior year (2017-18 ) at Bradley at his own request, to work on his offense. He also finished his career at the D2 level.
And of course, Rienk Mast redshirted his freshman year, but it was necessary for his recovery from ACL repair.

I really liked Pitt-bull (Antoine Pittman), but with new talent coming in, was hard for him to get back on the court. He celebrated as much as the other guys when we won Arch Madness in 2019.

Yes the injuries now a days are pretty much the only reason to redshirt a player.
