Nice! Did he have other D1 offers? I wonder how his game will translate. Always good to have a local kid.

I don't know and didn't ask. I suspect he probably did, since every D1 needs a scorer who can handle the ball well and shoot the three with a nice percentage. But he wanted to play in his home town.

Welcome home, Connor. What are we calling him, LB? CDilly?

Always good to have a local player. His stats are good.
Now we need 3 more players.

I think he will do very well here. He won't average 21 points a game but if he gets 12 or 13 points per game that would be good. I think he will do well in the motion offense because of his quick shot

He does not have a nickname that he's been called in the past, but I know someone in the family and will ask them to find out if there is a short nickname he'd like to be called.

I hope you are right, but I think 12-13 points is overly optimistic. There will be an adjustment for someone coming into D1 from a D2 program. Plus, unless there are injuries, he may not be a starter.
Connor Hickman averaged 14.5 ppg, and he was the team's leading scorer and played over 32 minutes per game. I'll be happy if he can give the team 10-20 minutes of steady guard play and hit some open jumpers.

I'm always fascinated with the numbers new players pick. #2 is especially interesting because it feels like it has always been with guys who didn't pan out for some reason or another. Obviously, this is not applicable to all names, but just interesting if your history goes back far enough - I'm getting old enough now that I remember all of these guys well.

                  Joey Paul
                  Ray Brown
                  Dodie Dunson
                  Warren Jones
                  Ronnie Suggs
                  Luqman Lundy
                  Antonio Thomas
                  Max Ekono
                  Emarion Ellis

Definitely Luqman is my favorite of this crew (and the total opposite, where he started slow and turned into a really important player)!

lol, yeah Dodie and Luqman are the only 2 that I'd say it worked for. I do not remember Warren Jones at all....I'm gonna have to do some digging to refresh my memory.

Yeah I have been accused of being overly positive . One guy told me I could find a white pony in a pig pen full of s**t

Love bringing in hometown kids, assuming they can ball, and his stats would suggest he can. And we know D2 guys can ball. See Indiana State's Swope and Bledson, and our own Christian Davis.

Is this because you believe we will land another starting quality guard or because Deen, Burch, Zek will be the starters?

If he’s not starter quality then I’m not sure I feel super about that set of starting guards. Deen is great, Zek should be solid, and Burch has great potential but clearly wasn’t there yet this year. Also, that’s not an outstanding shooting group with Zek and Burch both being below average (though Burch was better than expected) last year from three.
