2024 NIT Championship- Indiana State vs. Seton Hall
Thought ISU Blue shot the ball way too quick in the last 3 1/2 minutes of the game. They should have been trying to take as much time off the shot clock as possible with a 7 point lead.
Definitely different schools of thought, but after watching several of their games, I would assume Schertz decided to go with what got them there.
Josh Schertz said he was inspired by everything his Indiana State team did this year!!! It was a Heart breaking loss, but his Indiana State team's Run to the NIT Championship game will live on as his team inspired a community and this country!
I hate to say this - but I think it was one of the biggest "Chokes" in NIT history. Up 77 - 70 - Indiana State attempted to shoot what I call "hero 3 balls" and none of them went in. Instead of trying to as a team take the ball to the hoop - they just kept on trying their 3 ball shooting. Josh Schertz - Mid-Major Coach of the Year was out coached those last 2 minutes. This game will be talked about in Seton Hall "folk lore" for some time as one of the greatest victories in the school history.with a 9 to 0 run to win the game and the NIT Championship. Oh well - on ward..

I would agree. They were going for the dagger 3 but couldn't make it. Took them way too early in the shot clock too. Also that last play was kind of a mess.
Sucks to end that way but overall it was a good season for them. Too bad their team will be basically destroyed for next year.

I felt the same way. Up like 5 with 3 min or so Avila took like 2-3 threes in a row, some early in the shot clock. Major mental breakdowns down the stretch.
Indiana State was actually up 7 (77-70) when the final media timeout was called with 2:54 left in the game. Seton Hall scored on a rebound layup with 2:45 left, then went on to score the final 9 points of the game, while Indiana State missed their final 7 shots, 6 of which were three point attempts.
