  • New BU player--Cameron Sweatman

Went to the Field House the other day to maybe catch the Braves in action, but womens v ball had the court. I went back to see if maybe they were working out and on a bulletin board they had a list of players and their individual meeting times, listed by first name only. All were familiar but the name Cameron. Could this be our mystery walk-on???

Yes, there is another member of the basketball team, that I believe is a preferred walkon, whose name is Cameron. There has been no official announcement of this, but many of the "insiders" do know all about this.

Maybe now that there seems to be some public acknowledgement of it we should open the discussion?

Here are the basic facts I have heard-- Cameron Sweatman played last year at Lake Forest Academy, and prior to that was at Springfield Calvary Academy. He is a 6'7" guard-forward. I hear he is an outstanding shooter.

I have noted that in some places he is referred to as Robert or Rob Sweatman, but apparently he prefers his middle name Cameron.
There isn't much information on the internet about him. Here is a mention in a blog entry from Daniel Poneman's site. Maybe Daniel can comment on him?
Webs.com has been shut down on the 31st of August 2023. Find out what that means for your site and how to move it to another provider.

Da Coach, was he rated by any of the rating services coming out of high school?

"sweatman"....this reminds me of Lirpa Sloof and another famous BU recruit Kenny Sing.

Man add a Willie Golf and I'm starting to wonder if its all a dream.....

        GO BU....

Robert Cameron Sweatman is a 6-6 wing player who is athletic and who is quite
possibly the source of talk over the summer of a mysterious recruit.
Right now he is someone that I am waiting to hear more about, but I project he will not be a starter in the first few games.

"he will not be a starter IN THE FIRST FEW GAMES" What does that mean T? Or am I reading to much into it?
            Can we start winning soon?

He is a freshman, and a walk-on. I feel pretty confident in predicting he will not be a starter this season. I think he sounds a little bit like Ryan Thornton, but I have never seen him play.

He does not show up in any of the prep rankings.

Could this new player be the one that was rumored last summer as a walk on?

I don't think so. The player and thread you are referring to is likely this one:

which was talking about Ryan Thornton.
The new player, Cameron Sweatman, has not yet been mentioned in any media source, but has been discussed in some private messages and e mails for a few weeks here on BradleyFans.
