That is a ridiculous amount for a new coach. It puts him near the top of the MVC in coaching salaries. I believe only Ben Jacobson and Brian Wardle exceed that salary.Comment

Very surprised that a state school would offer that amount of money to Nagy, who has only held lower D1 coaching jobs. I can justify it more with someone like Martin who has coached at P5 schools. Dayton business journal stated in 2023 Nagy made 557 k. So I don’t think 600 is in any way unreasonable. I’m actually surprised it wasn’t a bit more…..houstonbraveComment

It is a good hire. Nagy had a .667 win percentage at Wright State with 2 NCAA & NIT appearances (1 was COVID yr so no games) in 8 seasons. He averaged 21 wins a season there. And he was making $500,000/yr. So SIU had to give more than that to get him. In practical terms it is a bit more as the cost of living in Carbondale is probably less than in Dayton.
