Extremely proud of Malevy in his journey in trying to land a spot on an NBA team. Irregardless of how things turn out fans like me are keeping an eye on the situation. Not to mention coach Wardle. Am sure he has a ear to ear smile on his face. Good luck to him. Draft day is right around the corner.
Do not know how this works out. But wondering if Coach Wardle will have the opportunity to be in attendance sitting with Malevy. I will be watching as I can only imagine the reaction if his name is called as a draft pick. Peoria is and should be even prouder for him if that happens.
ESPN now has Malevy at # 99 on their list of best available draft candidates - https://www.espn.com/nba/draft/besta...ion/ovr/page/4
That would have him outside the 2-round draft in which has only 60 draft spots (only 58 players will be drafted because 2 teams forfeited their 2nd round picks due to tampering charges).
There are many websites that have him higher, including a couple I have seen showing Malevy being drafted late in the 2nd round.
I am assuming that the team that has invited the prospective player to their facility pays all the travel and lodging expenses. Is this correct?
Yes, I have been told the hosting team takes care of all the expenses and usually arranges the travel, hotel (if needed), meals, escort, etc. It is all handled through the player's agent.
I found this article from a few years ago, but it describes what the player goes through pretty well - https://www.si.com/nba/2018/06/06/nb...spect-workouts
I’m a Thunder fan so admittedly biased, but that would be a good place for him to catch on. They have 3 and D guards to support their stars, Malevy could fill the 3 and D forward role they are thin on. At least I can dream about it happening haha

Sorry - I don’t know what “3 and D” means. Can u elaborate pls?
Go Thunder!
3 and D players are guys who are good at making 3s and playing Defense. They aren’t asked to do much of anything else. Lu Dort and Alex Caruso are two guys in the NBA that applies to. It’s more or less what Christian Davis does at Bradley. By NBA standards that will be the expectation for Leons.

THANK YOU!!! Good to learn this! Yes, I am familiar with Caruso. I love what CD brings to our team. He has such an effortless stroke from downtown and he raised his D up a level last season.
Looks like Leons is signing what amounts to a training camp and summer league contract with the Thunder. Hopefully he plays well and makes the G league team at minimum and maybe a spot on the roster
