It was a very uncharacteristic performance by Drake from the FT line. For the season they had averaged 76% from the FT line. They were just 6-14 for the game. They were also just 5-15 from 3. Tucker DeVries started the game 3-4 but missed 11 of his last 14 shots as Washington St rotated about 3 6' 8" guys on Tucker and really made it tough on him to get any clean looks. They certainly got a taste of the own physical medicine as Drake had 21 fouls to the Cougars 13. Is this the last game for Tucker and his Dad at Drake? Frankly I hope so but we'll see if a Power 5 school will give him enough NIL money to make the move.

Despite the NCAA selection committed being criticized for the at-large bids, they pretty well with the seeding.
Here are the remaining seeds left in the Sweet 16-
East Region- seeds 1, 2, 3, 5
Midwest Region- seeds 1, 2, 3, 5
South Region- seeds 1, 2, 4, 11
West Region- seeds 1, 2, 4, 6
It's the first time since 2019 that all four #1 seeds have advanced to the Sweet 16.
11-seed North Carolina State, is the only team seeded lower than a 6-seed.

Jim Mattson is a workhorse in the local sports scene, and does a remarkable job shining the spotlight especially on area high school athletes and teams. He's now devoting almost all of his sportscasts to the Illini's NCAA run. He led with the Illini when BU was playing in the NIT, and yesterday there was a 3-minute feature on the Illini and then one quick sentence at the end about Connor Hickman entering the portal. This evening it was all Illini. Maybe I'm just envious, and I hesitate to criticize someone who goes above and beyond professionally, but I'm not sure the team 90 miles down the road should dominate quite this much.Yajusneverno!

He has done that before. Last year Bradley was ina game and all he talked about was Illinois. Did not even bring up the Bradley game. DaCoach said he was an Illinois grad. I said I did not care. He needs to do his job which is here in Central Illinois which the hometown University is Bradley

I like Jim and sometimes you just have to take the good and swallow the bad a bit. At least he isn't an ISU homer like Kurt Pegler.Thinking is the hardest work, that is why so few people do it. -Henry Ford
Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.
