You mean he is breaking up the team love fest...Avila and Kent?

    • Couple Texas fans on Reddit think they are getting Kent, Avila, and Larry.

      • Good luck to him... the Big 12 is a large step up from the MVC in terms of interior size.

Larry I could see, since he is from Texas.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's less likely that Avila is headed there.
Texas just got a second commitment today from the portal - 6'6' junior wing Tramon Mack from Arkansas - https://twitter.com/TiptonEdits/stat...47940266439166

          • Former Drake guard Conor Enright has committed to DePaul. He is the 3rd former MVC player headed to DePaul along with NJ Benson (Missouri State) and Troy D’Amico (SIU).

              • Larry and Kent both to Texas.

No word on Avila yet but could also be happening.

Enright is actually the 4th MVC transfer. Isaiah Rivera of UIC also has committed to DePaul.

DePaul should just drop out of the Big East and join the MVC with all the MVC and mid-major transfers they are landing. They will likely continue their string of last place finishes in the Big East with this strategy of only recruiting mid-major talent. But they might be able to be competitive in the MVC.

I am seeing that there are Texas fans who believe these Indiana State transfers are going to help lead them to a National Championship - https://twitter.com/BevoBrigade/stat...06265616392635

Excuse me, but is that the same Indiana State that couldn't even get into the NCAA Tournament?

I am not trying to denigrate guys like Julian Larry and Jayson Kent, they are very good mid-major players. But they might not even be starters for a good Big 12 team like Texas.

The hype for this IN St squad is crazy. I like them and enjoyed watching them play, but I don't see Kent or Larry being all big 12 caliber.

                      • I just saw Great Osobor is in the portal. I truly enjoyed watching him play, Cat needs to pony up NIL for him to advertise their machines to get him on the Hilltop.

On another note, probably going east, but Sincere Harris just entered the portal. He could easily be a DPoy candidate in the Valley. Good to great athleticism.

That’s right. I felt like there was someone I was forgetting, but I couldn’t remember or find who it was.

Here is Jeff Goodman's updated Top 100 portal players - https://twitter.com/jeffborzello/sta...60339988844674

Note Tucker DeVries at #5, who has already signed scholarship papers to attend West Virginia. And Robbie Avila is #6.
But also note Utah State's Great Osobor at #4. He is getting interest and offers from some of the top programs in the country, and will no doubt be getting NIL offers in that $250,000 and higher range.
Full list, but you need to be an ESPN+ subscriber to read - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...2024-25-season
                            Other MVC players in the portal- # 6 Robbie Avila, # 41 Cade Tyson, # 45 Ryan Conwell, # 51 Malik Dia, # 55 Ja'Kobi Gillespie, # 90 Jayson Kent.
Also among the "Next in Line" (in order)- Connor Hickman, Alston Mason, Isaiah Swope, Atin Wright, Kevin Overton, Ben Humrichous.

As noted above, Illinois guard Sencire Harris, who just entered the portal, was a 4-star recruit out of St. Vincent-St. Mary HS in Akron in 2022. He didn't get much playing time his freshman season (2022-23) and only shot 31.7% from three. He redshirted this past season. I think he will also get high-major offers, but I agree, he would be a real impact player at the mid-major level if he is looking for more playing time.

I also am wondering about the hype. They couldn't beat Michigan State, a 14 loss team this year, nor Alabama, which resulted in them missing the NCAA tournament. In addition they fell to an 11? loss Seton Hall in the finals of the NIT. I agree they are good players, but S16 or better players? Maybe in a long shot situation. Idk. But I think the idea is putting these players around other really strong players and have the transfers come off the bench some, or maybe a couple as starters, and the overall roster will be really strong. Time will tell on this type of roster construction at the power schools.

The Big East will see flopping like never before.
