  • Creighton recruit to have open heart surgery

2008 Creighton recruit Josh Jones. a 6'2" guard from Omaha Central HS, is due to have open heart surgery this morning to repair a leaky valve caused by a potentially life-threatening infection.
It sounds like he has bacterial endocarditis. It is a somewhat rare bacterial infection on one of the heart's valves that is usually caused by bacteria entering the bloodstream from the mouth and attaching to the valve. It can be seen after a person has dental work done, but rarely occurs spontaneously.

Very tough break for the young player.
I wish him the best and a full recovery.
The type of operation he would be having will either repair his valve or replace it.
That might mean the need lifelong for meds that could make it tough to play at the D-I level of competition.
It will be tough to come back from this kind of surgery, but this guy is attempting to do it!
(albeit a slightly different but no less invasive surgery)
Ronny Turiaf is back with the Los Angeles Lakers less than six months after having open-heart surgery.

He's already back and playing in the European Championships

Word on Bluejay recruit Josh Jones is that his surgery went well.
The heart surgeons had to repair one valve and replace another.
Of course it has not been determines if and when the kid can play ball, but we here at BradleyFans are certainly wishing Josh a full and speedy recovery.

Wow, he is impressive, I add my best wishes.
Bradley should go after the kid, he hasn't signed a LOI yet!!

(he apparently told the reporter he thinks he can be back on the court by January,
he is a senior at Omaha Central HS)
