Coach Gorski did have success for a couple years, but it went downhill fast in her final year. Her final season (2021-22), her team was 4-24 overall, and 1-17 in the MVC (last place). Then, much of the talent Gorski had that final year left Bradley when she retired (Gabi Haack and Tatum Koenig).
So new coach Kate Popovec took over a horrible team and a terrible situation with Bradley at the bottom of the MVC and very little talent returning. The best remaining player left over from Coach Gorski, Caroline Waite, left the next year and transferred to ISU, stunting the rebuilding process.
Coach Popovec has several very good freshmen this year, but her best player, junior Kaylen Nelson (was averaging a team-leading 15.6 ppg), unfortunately tore her labrum in the 5th game of the season, and has missed the rest of the season. She'll be back next year.
Coach Pop has an excellent recruiting class coming in for next fall, so they will be better next year, and the future looks good - https://bradleybraves.com/news/2023/...asketball.aspx

The Bradley women get the 11-seed in the tournament. Last year they were the 12-seed, so we're headed in the right direction! - https://twitter.com/ValleyHoops/stat...13114326442296
They will play Murray State Thursday at 8:30 pm.

Nelson wasn't the only injury. Half the dang team was injured most of the season. I believe they only dressed 8 players the last 2 games. Hopefully Poock can be the building block and not bolt. Also agreed on the incoming freshman. I just hope Pop is around long enough to get it going.....might already be in Reynolds doghouse given whatever happened in the non-con season.
