  • Wardle's tenure

Been seeing a lot of posts about whether Wardle will take another head coaching job. I for one hopes he sticks around for a while longer. But sad to say nothing lasts forever. When that day comes be happy for him. Bradley basketball survived following the Geno Ford time here as it will when Wardle finally decides to leave. Never thought Bradley would be prominent again after Geno Ford and believe Bradley will again be prominent after everything shakes all out after he leaves. But here is hoping he will not leave for a while yet. After Sunday's game let's head to St. Louis with one clear goal. Win the tournament for the automatic bid. Sounds sweet."Go Braves"

He has done a good job and I expect him to be back next season because I do not see him getting the DePaul job. The one thing I hope changes is recruiting transfers better because it is important that we get players that can immediately contribute next season if we expect to stay towards the top of the Valley.

among the spots that we would expect to be open this spring - which might appeal to a midwestern MVC coach and be a STEP UP from the MVC?
      - DePaul & Vanderbilt have already fired their coaches & will be hiring
      - Indiana has been mentioned, but the buyout of their coach (Mike Woodson) is enormous and thus unlikely
      - Holtman was canned at Ohio State, but his interim, Jake Diebler, has them on a nice run and may get to stay there
      - Juwan Howard at Michigan is really on a hot seat
      - Louisville's Kenny Payne likewise
      - then Mike Boynton (OK State) and Bobby Hurley (AZ State) and there's talk of Dana Altman retiring at Oregon

That's about it for now of the jobs that are unarguably better than Bradley.... so if anyone offers an MVC coach it will prob be DePaul, Louisville or Vandy

Not sure why people are bringing up the topic of Wardle getting interest right now. If he was going to leave last year would have been his best chance. I pointed out elsewhere today that mid-major coaches are usually hired by power programs after they demonstrate some type of post-season success, which Wardle has yet to accomplish. He does not have an NCAA Tournament win nor an NIT win at Bradley yet. And while it is clear that he is a good coach, and above average at this level, I don't think he has done enough to get a job that would be worth leaving Bradley. Just my opinion though.

Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

I agree with your observation, BCS schools look for proven winners at their own level. I could see DeVries moving up because he has won more plus his son would help any team win more games. This is not a knock on Wardle because he has done a great job at Bradley yet his recruiting needs to get better in order to move up to a higher rated league.
