  • Hannah and Leons

I can't express enough how much these guys have meant to the Braves program.
Leons is a throw-back player that you just don't see much at all. A stat stuffer and guy who has NEVER sulked and one of the best character guys in college basketball.

Darius Hannah - not sure if there's anyone in the program who has worked as hard to get to where he is now, and has persevered from 2 yrs ago with very few minutes to a guy who is almost leading the nation in FG % and is right up there is blocked shots. He is no longer a liability on the FT line and has WOWED Bradley fans with highlight dunks since his Freshman year.

Not sure if Darius will be back, but in his 4th season, he has become the guy we thought he might be - and maybe more.
Leons will be missed a ton and I know we admire these guys for their effort and attitude, and how wonderfully they have represented Bradley hoops.

Leons has been an amazing high quality player for BU and one of the primary reasons for BU's success over his time on the hilltop. Great to have a player or two like him on every roster.

Hannah has come on strong, he has clearly developed and if anyone questions his work ethic or the BU coaching ability to develop players, I will fight them lol. Just an amazing example of player progression. Can't understate his performance on the court this year either.

Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

      Spot on Stryker!

I know we all have favorite Braves over the years, but these 2 land in my Top 10 since 2006.
Leons for his rare style and doing a little of everything - Hannah for his incredible work ethic and persistence (and some highlight dunks!)

Ja'Shon and DB Jr have to be my 2 favorite Braves in the Wardle era.

Paul Oren, the Valparaiso beat writer had this to say about Malevy Leons- https://twitter.com/TVBOren/status/1763415746833474026
He's torn between Deen or Leons for his 1st team picks- https://twitter.com/TVBOren/status/1763416838560493621

I think Leons will be 1st team All-MVC, but there probably isn't enough room and there are too many other good players for Bradley to get anyone else on 1st team.
Duke Deen and Connor Hickman have had terrific seasons and would be shoe-ins for 1st team in some other years. But this year they will probably be pushed down to 2nd and 3rd team picks. The Indiana State players are in a similar situation. You could make a strong case that Isaiah Swope, Ryan Conwell, and Robbie Avila all deserve 1st team, and Jayson Kent is close, too. But Avila will most likely get on the 1st team, IMO, while Swope and Conwell are probably 2nd team, and Kent either 2nd or 3rd team.
Other 1st team picks- Obviously Tucker DeVries and Xavier Johnson are certain 1st teamers.
Alston Mason, Malik Dia, and Cade Tyson are also guys who could make 1st team in the right year, but not all will this year. If their teams were in contention for the top of the MVC, they'd get more votes, but Missouri State has underperfomed, and UNI, and Belmont are not in the top 4.
Probably only one of those 3 will be 1st team this year, and most likely it will be Tyson.
So my guess for 1st team is Leons, DeVries, Johnson, Avila, and Tyson.
2nd team- Swope, Conwell, Deen, Mason, Brodie
3rd team- Kent, Hickman, Born, Dia, and Heise
That still leaves out some very good players who had nice years- Atin Wright of Drake, Donovan Clay of Missouri State, Isaiah Rivera of UNI, Isaiah Stafford of Valpo, Jacobi Wood and Nick Ellington of Murray State, Myles Foster of ILSU, Tobi Okani of UNI, and Tytan Anderson of UNI.

Many SIU people have been vigorously pushing & promoting Xavier Johnson for MVC Player of the Year.
But, Malevy, Connor & Christian did such an awesome job shutting him down Wednesday, while Tucker put up almost 40,
so now the POY looks to be DeVries vs Avila.

It's too bad offensive numbers are valued so much higher than defensive ones in these discussions. Malevy could easily score 20 a game, but is so unselfish and focuses on the defensive end so much you just don't see it happen often. Malevy really is the MVP if you look at the overall game. What other player in the conference guards 1 through 5, and does it well?
            Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Darius Hannah should be on the Most Improved Team, and I think he will be.
Here is an article from the Valparaiso beat writer promoting Valpo's Darius DeAviero for the Most Improved Team, and also as the Most Improved Player - https://www.thevictorybell.com/p/the...arius-deaveiro (click "No Thanks" on the popup subscribe page)
