A couple things:
Let's be clear this is an online Letter to the Editor, and not written by the Journal Star or its staff.
Ed Murphy (the undersigned) does raise some very valid points. My biggest criticisms about the book were the fact that they rushed to market and the fact that they outsourced most of the work which lacked detail. Details are important and lead to these kinds of inaccuracies/inconsistencies.
Lydia actually paid for some minority students to attend Bradley, so the likelihood that there were other Black athletes at Bradley in the first decade of the institution is exceptionally high.
