Rienk had a nice game, and appeared to have the winning basket for Nebraska with 9 seconds left in regulation. But Illinois was able to tie the game when a stupid foul sent Marcus Domask to the free throw line just before time ran out. He made one of two free throws to tie the game and send it to overtime.
With just 7 seconds left in the overtime, with Nebraska down 87-84, Rienk was about to take a potential game-tying three when he was stripped of the ball. It looked to me like Rienk was fouled, but nothing was called. So Illinois escapes with an 87-84 win at home. Rienk had 22 points and 6 rebounds for Nebraska. Marcus Domask had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists for Illinois.- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId/401600369

I would go so far as to say the no-call foul that stripped Rienk may have been an attempt at an intentional foul, since Illinois was up 3 with just seconds left. But the ball came loose and no whistle. Meanwhile, they did call a rather cheap foul that sent Domask to the line with just seconds left in regulation. Home court advantage?Yajusneverno!

I concur, I was rooting for IL and still, Rienk was fouled on that play. It wasn't that super obvious though, it seems the defender didn't directly hit is forearms, more slid his arm down Rienk's, into the basketball. Still probably should have been called a foul though.
Nice game by Rienk, although he did take a lot of shots.Thinking is the hardest work, that is why so few people do it. -Henry Ford
Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

A nice article on Rienk, written just before he and Nebraska beat Indiana on the road last night. It includes how he finally got his first dunk in Big 10 play . . . and maybe first dunk this season . . . last weekend.
It is looking like Rienk is going to get his chance to play in the Big Dance. I hope his friends on the Braves do as well in March.
The 6-foot-10 junior from the Netherlands posts 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, both team-leading figures, to go with 13.5 points.
