Aziz Ndiaye, a native of Senega, has transferred to Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois. Some who have seen him say he is a big time talent, a high-major college recruit, and a future 1st round NBA draft pick.
Lake Forest Academy already had Kyle Rowley, a 2008 7-footer who is getting high major interest.

Ndiaye showed up at an NBA cam in Europe in the summer of 2006 and impressed scouts with his natural athleticism--

Just for the record, the NCAA allows a "Contact Period" from September 9 through October 5.
During this time the coaching staff can not only make contact with any one from their junior year on up, but that can also travel to the recruit's home town to observe him workout and play.

Many recruits from both Class of 2008 and 2009 are beginning to set up campus visits, as they mostly want to have that out of the way for this fall before they have open gyms, tryouts and practices which begin soon.

As you know in the cases of Mac Koshwal and Danny Almonte, fraud does occur, and many of these names of late like Festus Ezeli, John Riek, Beas Hamga, etc....sure do look a whole lot older than most other high schoolers.

I'm not sure how these school's get these kids through. The fact that LFA is a prep school is probably the reason they are able to do so. I do know N'Diaye was born in 1988 and was supposed to graduate in 2007 or 2006 but you know how those things go...

There does seem to be some confusion about his age.

When he showed up at the NBA European tryout camp in Berlin in the summer of 2006, he gave his year of birth as 1988. Of course, he had to be 19 years old to be eligible for the NBA draft.--

interest, despite some academic issues.

The main issue right now is academics.

???To be honest schools have looked at him, but his situation academically is
going to be up in the air,??? Lake Forest Academy high school coach Matthew
Vaughn said. ???We haven??™t sent his stuff into the clearinghouse yet.???

???There hasn??™t been a whole lot of schools just recruiting with him. I think
everybody knows it??™s going to be a wait and see depending on what gets
through the clearinghouse and what doesn??™t.???

Vaughn also coaches 2009 prospect Kyle Rowley, who is a 7-foot, 280-pound
center, so a number of schools have been in to see both prospects. The
Lake Forest Academy didn??™t name many schools, but he did point out two
specifically that have inquired.

???We??™ve had Kentucky, Georgetown and pretty much you name it come
through and they are obviously interested in him as well, but they aren??™t
really recruiting him at this point because they don??™t know if it??™s going to be
worth the effort.???

a wait and see approach. I??™ve been real honest with coaches and said you??™re
going to come in the gym and see this kid as well as Kyle, but right now we

The next step for N??™Diaye is to take the SAT. There are tentative plans to
take it later in the winter or even hold off until the early spring. With N??™Diaye
being from Senegal, Vaughn doesn??™t know which classes will transfer and
which ones won??™t.

N??™Diaye is an intriguing prospect because of his size, athleticism and ability to
rebound the basketball.

???He has great size and good athletic ability,??? Vaughn said. ???He??™s ferocious on
the boards. He just goes after every rebound like it??™s his. He??™s a super hard
worker everyday.???

???He doesn??™t have a polished low post game,??? he continued. ???He plays a little
bit more outside because he has good mobility. Aziz has a huge wingspan
and is very good around the rim. Rebounding and defensively, he??™s excellent.???

Despite the talent, it??™s up in the air if N??™Diaye will make it to the college
ranks. If he can??™t get eligible, JUCO is the likely route.

Is this a brother to the other N'Daiye's that have played D-1 ball here? One that I remember is Mahktar N'Daiye I really can't even remember where he played. I wanna say North Carolina? Just wondering?

I suspect not. Do a search and find that the surname N'Diaye is a very common name in Senegal and other African nations. Anyway, it sounds like there is no chance in the world this kid is going to suddenly show up with the proper documentaion to show he is actually going to graduate from high school in 2008 but you never know. He will probably have to be a junior college player like Ping was.
