  • Meta's upside

Great to see Meta have a breakout game. Is there room for continued improvement. Of course there is. One thing I have noticed is he is a decent free throw shooter so far. Continue working on footwork in the post and work on some post moves. He does that and either he scores or gets fouled. Again so far it looks like he is a decent free throw shooter. Let's hope he decides to stay at Bradley instead of going into the portal in the future.

What I see in him that it is of the utmost importance. His desire. He hustles. That will help him to improve on his play

His work ethic is definitely visible imo. He seems like a great guy, I hope his hard work continues to pay off!

Much like Ari, I think if we can get 10-15 good minutes per game out of Jonovic where he plays good defense and challenges anything inside, that will make a huge difference in our chances to win the conference. Additionally, if he can give us a few points, especially from the line, that's going to be even better.

Having a guy his size in the Valley is a real luxury and with his length, he has the ability to completely shut down any inside game the other team may have. Beyond that, I do agree that he hustles and when the crowd gets fired up, he does in turn and it is fun to see. I think by year's end, he's going to be making a big impact and BU will be challenging for the title.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

If Meta would quit bringing the ball down to his waste he could be a gem. Joe Stowell..."bring it down low to be stripped "...and no-one mentions how good of passer he is...team guy, good FT shooter, very glad he is a Brave...

He’s showing gradual improvement which is what you want. I think he’s adapting to the faster pace of play that we have here in the states. I don’t expect him to perform that well against the better teams in the conference, but maybe he will surprise me.

For the first game, Meta made a concerted effort to dunk vs settle for layups. When he catches the ball clean, he has time and power to throw it down, and he seems to be starting to see that.

I’ve been uncertain where Meta fits at times, but this was his best game for sure (and the team’s best in a while). I’ll temper that with the last couple games were against really bad teams. Valpo is not good and was a good matchup for Meta.

He seems like a great guy and he has improved this year, I’m sure through hard work. He is much better offensively than he started the year, even if his defense and foot speed is still concerning at times to me. I think if Brian plays the right matchups with him he is useful and can be a mismatch in certain situations like against Valpo. I think he is a perfect back up Valley center. What is his ceiling in the long run? I’m still unsure, but I think he can be a contributor in an 8 man rotation. I hope that will continue even against better competition going forward.

Last season and early this season, Meta's instinct was to go for a gentle layup shot inside, which often got tipped away or blocked. In the last few games, he seems to have developed more confidence, and we've seen him go more forcefully for dunks, which I am happy to see. It has resulted in a boost of his scoring average and getting to the FT line more.
Meta shot only 3 free throws over the first 9 games this season. But in the last 5 games, he is 11-17.
His scoring average was 4.1 ppg over those first 9 games. But in the last 5 games, he has averaged 6.6 ppg, with a career high of 15 points last game.
He's got the size and skills to keep doing this against every MVC team.

He has shown improvement, just needs to show more consistency against good opponents.

Meta has a lot of upside because he's starting from such a low point. He's vastly improved from last season so if he continues to make the same incremental improvements he could be a pretty good MVC center by his senior year. The area he needs the most improvement in is anticipation when it comes to rebounding. He still doesn't appear to have a real good feel for the speed of the college game.
